We’re looking for a venue to host a cocktail party for our engagement, for around 50 – 70 guests.

Has anyone got any great ideas?

We’re hoping to go somewhere that doesn’t have a per head charge for food (which we’re finding difficult) would appreciate any advice!!

Thank you

bit late, but my sister had a cocktail party style wedding reception at On Red – the restaurant on top of Red Hill. great wine menu and tapas, beautiful views – a bit unusual and different. not sure how they charge, though.

i do not recommend the ha Ha Bar – they charged me 12 bucks for a cider.

$12 for a cider ! Thats cheap.. most places is around $14-16 unless its on tap.. Then I retract my statement 🙂

I recommend Ha Ha Bar in Belconnen.
While they do charge per head for food – they don’t charge venue hire (if you can guarentee a certain number of guests)
I looked around a lot, and found this to be the cheapest option.

Kremlin is awful.

Go to La De Da in Belco. Went to a mates engagement party there, it was fantastic. Great cocktails, friendly staff and wonderful water views.

A warning: Make sure you pay up-front for a bar tab if you’re having one.

Kremiln is fine new owners with a fresh take and feel. The ex owner public servants who never worked in bars have finally moved on.

Hippo Bar also allows private functions (will give you the entire venue unless its peak time). As does Trinity (doesnt give you the entire venue).

But…cocktail party for an engagement?

Just book in lots of clubs have vip areas try Charlie black or cabinet bar I know they have a private room and drink packages for groups. Or host it at home just hire This guy called johnny cosmpolitain will do all the tricks at your place.

We hosted a part last year at Kremlin Bar.
The owner was very good to work with and flexible with food and catering and the bar guys made very tasty cocktails. (Also flexible with bar tab/price formats)

The windows can be curtained up for some privacy and depending on how many people you will have, you could book the place out, or just the lower half. 🙂
