Recommendations for a good, cheap cleaner in Canberra?

Our property manager decided that we could move into our property without organizing an end-of-lease clean. The last tenants trashed the house and somehow got away with their whole bond returned to them. We have been fighting our property manager and landlords for the past 18 months to get the house up to scratch. They did send around cleaners a week after we moved in but they only cleaned the bathrooms and kitchen in a half-arsed job. Everything else we have had to do ourselves, like pay for the carpets to be cleaned.

There are a few things that haven’t been cleaned, which have been dirty since we moved in. These include sticky dusty stuff on the blinds in the bathroom and laundry and really grotty window sills. I have tried and failed to clean them myself. I am sick of them, and want someone to come and do it for me.

Any recs for cleaners?

Try Electrodry Carpet Dry Cleaning in Canberra they always have specials http://www.electrodry.com.au/

Recently moved in bonner and when we vacated our rental apartment in downer the carpet was filthy – Good old parties and memories!
We got referred to http://www.kingscarpetcleaningcanberra.com.au/ by our real estate agent. The mob did a pretty good job and even helped moving some furniture as well. Would surely recommend them.
My 2 cents.

Hey – they said “cheap” 😛

I used a mob called MMS cleaners – they were really good. Not cheap though.

The best cleaners you will never hear about, as their clients want to keep them all to themselves! We just found a “corker” of a cleaner – inexpensive and thorough – and does stuff you dont expect to be done!

i understand the proprietary desire. but how inexpensive is inexpensive?

You have tried and failed at cleaning those spots?

Here is a tip on how to clean them.

Sticky dusty stuff on blinds in bathroom and laundry:
Wet cloth, detergent, rinse water.
Wipe entire blinds with wet cloth that has been dipped in the detergent. Then rinse the cloth, and wipe the blind with rinsed cloth.
Repeat until they are clean.

Grotty window sills:
Wet cloth, detergent, rinse water.
Wipe sills with wet cloth that has been dipped in the detergent. Then rinse the cloth, and wipe the blind with rinsed cloth.
Repeat until they are clean.

It will take you far less time and energy than fighting with the landlord …

“Good” & “Cheap” – the only time you’ll find those 2 words close together is in post on RA asking for a service.

I’d look for ‘effective’ and ‘reasonable’, you’re more likley to get what you need I think.

Good luck, I hope your final battle with the agent is not too bad.

when you find a reliable and thorough cleaner please post the name & fee–would be interested in knowing how much good service costs.

Hope you took photos of the state of the property when you moved in. Odd on when you move out, the real estate agent will expect to be able to eat their dinner off your sparkling kitchen floor.
