Can anyone recommend a great Publicist to assist with the release of a report into inappropriate behaviour in the workplace?

We are a Canberra based National Mental Health organisation which is currently involved in a National Mental Health Initiative.

Any suggestions would be great, Small budgets require great publicists!

@I-Filed – thanks for the advice, no, not crisis communications at all – I just helped out for a few hours per week to help promote their services to the people that needed them …

So Bonnie Babes Foundation was founded by Rachel Stanfield-Porter and thrived for some 20 years with little or no govt support at all. When the federal government funding became available (in 2010, I think?) BBF was handed over to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital to focus on funding for medical research.

The federal funding was explicitly for telephone counselling so this part of the services was separated out and re-established under a new body called the Small Miracles Foundation, which you’re right, is no longer government funded – of course, as is often the case, there is much more to the story that you read in the news!

Apologies for the lengthy explanation – suffice to say, Rachel is a great charity ambassador and I’m very happy to have her endorsement 🙂

Thank you so much for the kind recommendation notdingers, very much appreciate it.

Sorry I missed your call Miracles Australia, will give you a ring back early next week!

Cheers and thanks,

Jane.

Jane, you should perhaps remove “Bonnie Babes Foundation” from prime position on your testimonials page … they’re the outfit that had their funding cancelled by the feds for financial mismanagement and a lack of transparency ……. What was your role for them? Crisis communication?

Ask the Public Relations Institute (PRIA) – depending on your timing, PRIA may still run programs where senior PR members mentor students to carry out a PR project. Might fit your task if you have no budget.

I agree that asking the PRIA is a good way to go – especially if you don’t have any funding for the project. Sometimes PR businesses do free work for social causes so the PRIA secretariat might be able to recommend someone to help you. Otherwise they are much of a muchness and going through the yellow pages and calling and getting comparative quotes would be another way to go.

Content have been great whenever I’ve been involved with them

Hi notdingers, Thanks for the information. I called today and left a message.

Hi neanderthalsis, Yes, this is the type of information I thought the Publicist would provide and a very important point you make, ‘this will take it straight to where it is needed’. Thank you so much for your advice.

I am assuming that you are wanting to get your report out to the business community?

Try using standard business networks, it may save you the need for a publicist and get your report straight to where it needs to be. Try talking to the ACT Chamber of Commerce or the Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Charismatic Communications

I haven’t used them but have talked with the owner who was lovely and very knowledgeable, might be worth having a chat to them.
