Hi All.

As annoying as the ‘can you recommend’ posts are to some, I am really keen to hear any positive recommendations for domestic cleaners in the Belconnen region. ESSENTIAL qualities: trustworthy, reliable, good attention to detail and affordable.

I am hoping to get someone on a fortnightly basis who can clean the bathroom, toilet, kitchen, take bins out, vaccuum and mop floors. I anticipate 2 hours or less for this.

I only have a small 3 bedroom 1 bath home but with both my partner and I working full time and now expecting our first child cleaning is definitely not something I am getting around to doing that frequently these days.

Thanks in advance for your recommendations.

Are you looking for a reliable, honest, and hardworking cleaner that will make all your cleaning worries disappear, right before your eyes? Then look no further.

I am available 7 days a week, with weekly or fortnightly cleans available – even one off cleans for that special occasion.
End of Lease & spring cleans also available.

With previous experience in Real Estate (Property Management) I have an excellent eye for detail and have high expectations.

I am happy to carry out all types of cleaning, including:
dusting, bathrooms, toilets, kitchen, vacuuming, mopping, plus more……further duties can be discussed to suit your needs (including ironing).

$30 per hour for regular cleans(or a set price can be negotiated if preferred).
One off cleans are by negotiated set price.

References available from very satisfied clients.

Please email me to discuss your needs, arrange a quote or to book.

Hey madamcholet; we are looking for a Southside cleaner – could you pretty please provide contact details for yours either on here or via the eds! Thanks.

I can recomend our new cleaner although it would probably be pointless as we live in Tuggers, as does she.

However I have to disagree with the comment that a good clean of a small three bedroom house will take more than two hours. It’s all about organisation and obviously the level of cleaning you will be happy with.

Ours takes about that and she does the same if not slighty better job than I would do – every two weeks. She also does the occasional spring clean if you ask. We pay $70 a fortnight. To me it’s money well spent, as like you we are a couple with a toddler – well almost like you, (congrats btw).

We used Housewife Cleaning. They have found us a couple of people. They do all the checks required (presumably serial killers are out) and the all the people have done a great job. They help people like refugees who because of their English skills may sometimes find it hard to get a mainstream job and foreign students who may have both the English and time constraint trickiness. They don’t go missing if there are problems during that settling in phase and help out if your cleaners want to take a break. Heaven’s above. For me they did all the things that sit with me as providing a fair workplace and a fair deal for me. They don’t pay slave rates so don’t expect to get your house cleaned on the cheap. Reasonable time is provided for the job.

I agree that cleaning is the last thing a person feels like doing at the end of a busy week! However, I think it’s wishful thinking to think all this can be done in two hours.

I have been a house cleaner in the past and can assure you that if you want a thorough clean, a three bed one bath house will be more like three hours, depending on how much clutter you have (dusting takes considerably longer, and tidying up takes time before any actual cleaning can begin) and whether you have a very hair-shedding pet (making vacuuming significantly longer, as you have to vac the furniture as well).

The shower recess alone takes a good half hour. People often do not realise how long THEY themselves actually take to clean stuff properly, as most people don’t bother giving the whole house a really good clean in one sitting, tending to be more thorough on some stuff and not doing others so frequently. Eg, I personally don’t mop my hard floors every week, and am quite slack about dusting! However I am rather obsessive about vacuuming and sweeping, as I hate picking up stuff on my bare feet.

If you only want to/can only afford to pay for two hours, I would inform the cleaner you appoint that you are happy for some tasks to be done fortnightly. Eg, shower recess and dusting could be alternate weeks as there are only two of you using the shower (and assuming no one has allergies).

As you have a baby coming (congrats by the way!), you may wish to switch to enviro-friendly products, because the cleaner will be using your cleaning stuff.

I’ve used ‘domestic at work’. Can’t complain at all and for $30 bucks an hour I though it was worth it. They also do gardening/rubbish removal. I first heard about them from a flier I got in the mail. On it says police check so that’s good to know. Ph- 0401916139
