Hi there

I’m looking to do some improvements on my home and would appreciate some recommendations on reliable, great quality businesses who can help me with the following:

  • New wardrobe cupboards
  • Removal of old carpet and installation of new flooring (floating timber floors)
  • Kitchen/Bathroom renos (incl. floor and wall tiling)
  • Painting (interior)
  • Concreting/Paving/Landscaping (small area)

I am on a budget and would like to get honest and reasonably priced tradespeople who will deliver high quality customer service and finished product.

I look forward to hearing your experiences. Many thanks!

Just had our bathrooms renovated by southsidetilers.com.au and am very happy with the result. I would recomend them very highly to any one. They were on site when they said they would be always polite and the workmanship is second to none. The cuts are all semetric and the job has been laid perfectly flush. Not the cheapest quote but definatley the best value. We were warned to beware of sharks so we did our homework and checked out all of the tenderers carfully.

Dan the Handyman for small paving jobs, by far the best pricing and did a great job on my back yard paving. I found no paving companies would quote for small jobs in canberra. I was very pleased with Dans work, he was fast and professional. dan.handyman.repairs@gmail.com

J&M Bathroom Renovations were great! They were very experienced and always communicated throughout the process when renovation our bathrooms & tiling throughout the house. Give Mark a call 0438132491

Granny flat solutions are very good at building or renovating your home. They had done a great work for kitchen and bathroom inclusions and style at our place. Look their projects at, http://grannyflatsolutions.com.au/projects.

If your looking at a kitchen reno I cannot tell you who to use.. I can tell you who NOT to use. Granite Transformations. Steer clear of them. Email me and I’ll happily give details as to why I wont recommed them.

My opinion, get tradespeople where they are needed and DIY the rest. That is where the biggest savings are. But I understand peoples skill levels vary and many people who DIY shouldn’t!

Obviously painting is a DIY starter task, maybe save money by removing your own carpet (then again floating timber floors are easy to DIY also).

But if you lack confidence and knowledge it will be cheaper in the long run to get a tradesperson to di it anyway.

Many thanks for these great suggestions. I will keep these names handy when I start getting my quotes.

The Slate Man from Mitchell did a great job for us on 3 bathrooms, a laundry and cabinetry in a kitchen (to match the rest of the kitchen) and a wardrobe solution for a bedroom. High quality work, friendly people and totally trustworthy! Call Ziggy on 6241 7117.

Chris Williams, WetWorks, recently did a complete bathroom renovation for us and we found him punctual and reliable, very knowledgeable, frugal and willing to recycle when sensible, and his quote was the lowest of the three we got. He did most of the work himself and is a real craftsman as well as being a nice guy.

Brenton from Future Building company is really great. He did our deck earlier this year, and we have been talking to him about getting our kitchen done early next year.

Josh’s Painting Services did a great job at my place. Great price compared to others I also had to quote. Dont think he has a website I found him in the Chronicle 041308402
