This is not an ad, rather, a question. Has anyone had any dealing with these guys and if you have, are they good value. My new band has got 10 or so pretty decent songs and we’re looking at putting them down in a studio, as opposed to recording them through the PA in a basement….

JB, if this is an inappropriate post then simply get rid of it.

Thanks Bloodnut,

Might give the Qnbyn guy a call at some time. I’ve got rough demos of the songs on CD but thats it. Even though they don’t sound too bad….

Hey thumper – good to hear you’re getting your stuff together… don’t be afraid to ring around you know loadedogs got some connection with “The studio”, and I’ve always found that Duncan @ infidel in Queanbeyan always offers the studio and mixing at around $60 an hr and is a deadset lovely bloke as well as a pro.

just make sure your practised to the hilt and you’ll be fine I’m sure – thats always a good way to keep it cheap as well – one take wonders

good luck with it

Oh, thats easy stuff. Have tape, record on it, bounce the odd track, mix it down, bingo!

Im a bit like that with the analogue gear – wouldn’t know how to cut tape to save myself…..

I’ve recorded at the old 2XX studios back in 97 which was very good quality.

We’re looking at laying down the basic rhythm track and then the guitarist and myself overdubbing vocals, harmonies, keys, extra guitars, at a later stage.

This digital stuff has me stuffed as I’m used to old analogue gear.

Make sure their digital pickup has a powerful dedicated PC or a device that does all the pickup before dumping onto the Hard drive.

My suggestion is find out what gear they use ie mics, what system they use (eg hard disk, pro tools etc). If they have a portfolio of artists have a listen – maybe get the portfolio of another studio… juxtapose the two. Find out how much they cost..
Its definately worth researching – I have a fair bit of industry knowledge being in bands and also as a backyard producer/engineer – so post back if you have any questions

Might be worth emailing them and asking for the names of artists/bands who have been recorded by them and listen to the quality of some of their stuff.

They’re a mob called REVIVE DIGITAL.
