Redevelopment of Kambah Village?

Hey everyone!

Just yesterday I noticed the Caltex-Woolworths petrol station on Marconi cresent closed for redevelopment and also noticed some excavation near the intersection of Summerland crescent and O’Halloran circuit (the intersection closest to the Burn’s club)

Is this a sign of movement towards the redevelopment of the Kambah village area? Or is it coincidence that these two things are happening at the same time. I thought with the consultation a while ago at the Village shops that they would FINALLY be doing some work the the centre and the surrounding area.

I’ve been hearing rumours about the possible redevelopment of the centre. Woolies to be expanded, residential units along the length of Drakeford drive between the Village and the previously mentioned intersection near the club among other things.

Anyone know anything more on the subject of the whole Kambah village redevelopment?

the work on Kambah oval on Kett St is for a stormwater irrigation system to water ovals in Kambah and Wanniassa

dvaey,
they aren’t planning on building in the floodway. All proposed developments have to be above the 100yr flood level.

The servo closed for refurbishment of the storage tanks and presumably apron, the store itself isn’t being touched as far as I know.

I believe Kett St is being extended along the edge of the southern half of Kambah 3 Playing Fields for better access.

Yeah Thoroughly Smashed is correct.
The servo is putting in new fibreglass tanks and seperately better access is being provided to the playing fields.
The whole Kambah Village redevelopment is still at the masterplan stage.

This led me to go looking for any design applications, and I came across the draft master plan which mentions the changes you mention to Kett St. However, this draft plan is still in consultation period.. is this yet another case of the government consulting but doing what they please anyway?

Reading the draft master plan is kind of scary, with quite major changes to the Kambah Village, including suggestions of 6-storey residential developments north and south of the Village running along the parkway. Maybe someone needs to get off their computer and visit the site to understand that its a bad idea to build on a floodway. One can only take heed in the notes that suggest this is only a bunch of proposals that will be developed with community consultation. You can find the draft master plan at

It has been amusing watching people trying to pull into the service station, since there have been 2 big green signs there announcing the renovations for nearly a month. I even saw one driver yelling abuse at the site workers, as if it would achieve anything.

As for the other development near the corner of Summerland, I believe that is simply work on the playing field as there is similar work happening on several ovals in the nearby area.
