ABC On-line is speaking of new power meters in Canberra, that measures power useage in intervals, rather than in bulk. In this new age of de-regualtion of power, this will enable your power provider to tailor a plan that best suits your power needs, and no doubt will also screw you at the times when you need it the most.

Good idea, but it opens the floodgates for a raft of regulatory checks and balances built to demoralise, depress and defeat that most ardant of independant spirits.

This is a good thing as it matches the price of electricity more closely to demand.

If you’re prepared to run your major appliances after 10pm you can save yourself alot of money under these new pricing regimes.

Hmmm – demoralising checks and balances huh ssanta?

Do I trust shareholder driven power companies to do the right thing or would I like them to be held accountable by my elected representatives?

Hmm, let me think.

(Actually trying to work out what kind of regulation you see happening in this environment dude, I think that horse has long bolted)
