Reliable tyrefitter in Canberra?

I have noticed a couple of my tyres are becoming worn and need replacing.

Can anyone recommend a tyre-fitter in the city area who won’t charge me the earth and/or do work I don’t need.

Any advice (or warnings) welcome.

Hi Fabforty it’s Sam Nikro from Northwest Tyres here.

I would certainly welcome your business. I see that some nice people have already recommended us in here.

Just wanted to invite your personally. I am sure we can save you money and get you on the road with great tyres

Nice plug but I hope fabforty is not still trying to drive on bald tyres four months later.

Another vote for Jax Quickfit Fyshwick. Good service and no unwanted pushing of extras.

Ive had excellent service from Jax in Fyshwick.

Perhaps i’m a bit thick, but what exactly could/would a tyre-fitter do that would fall within the scope of “work I don’t need” during the routine operation of fitting new tyres to a car?

Agree Sammy, it’s not rocket science, FFS! Tyre comes off, tyre goes on, balanced, onto car, that’s it!

Yeah, but you always need a wheel alignment, camber adjustment, new suspension bushings, plus a halogen fluid flush and any other amount of “routine work” after getting a couple of tyres replaced, haha.

Yes, thanks Holden, that is exactly what I meant.

Thanks to those who gave practical recommendations.

Jax Fyshwick, very highly recommend.

If you are in Belconnen then you should go to Jax. They are quick, do a great job and are very well priced. They even look after you and understand if you are really hungover on a saturday morning.

Well, if we’re mentioning Belconnen outlets, then the Goodyear Autocare from my earlier post eventually got my business and they were very good. In my experience they took care when fitting tyres to my new rims and also took the time to tighten the bolts with a torque wrench, rather than a rattle gun.

Bob Jane T-Marts in Belconnen butchered a new tyre while fitting it, so badly it had to be replaced. To be fair they did replace it after i pointed it out, but I had driven away from there with a butchered tyre and with a front wheel barely bolted back on. Fortunately i did notice both these ‘lack of atention to detail’ problems before i had a disastrous blow out or my front wheel fell off.

Although they fixed/replaced it at no further cost to me, i would never use them again.

Although it’s not in the City…I had a really positive experience with Bob Jane T Mart in Belconnen. Really friendly staff and they won’t jerk you around with things you don’t need.

I have had no experience in the city, however Jax at Mitchell have always been good for me.

Cheers Steve.

I think there is still a Beaurepaires in Braddon, too. Although they have moved from their old location, I think they’re now over the road near or part of the car wash.

I’ve used them a couple of times in the past and they’ve been quite good.

Last I spoke to the Discount Tyres/Goodyear outlet in Braddon they were grossly overpriced on the particular tyres I was after, even compared to their sister outlet in Belconnen.

Your only option in the city AFAIK is Discount Tyres in Braddon.

Is Fyshwick in the “city area” ?

Northwest Tyres, near Hello Sexy.
