Rental free rooms in exchange for sex?

I came across this (http://www.news.com.au/business/story/0,27753,25056894-5013951,00.html) article which reports that there have been ads listed for rent free properties in exchange for a relationship and/or sex.

It stated, “A similar ad on flatmates.com.au read: “$0 to share flat, wanted flatmate/girlfriend to share unit in Griffith, ACT.”

Is this the result of the rental crisis or is this another avenue of singles to hook up?? Desperate times calling for desperate measures?

UPDATED: Many thanks to poptop for finding us Greg of Ragless Circuit in Kambah.

Greg is a 49 year old who would like to offer a 16-99 year old non-smoker a cash-free room:

Free accomodation in exchange for some regular intimate contact. Own room and bathroom and use of all facilities

ANOTHER UPDATE: Thanks to the miracle of Google’s Street View we can tour Ragless Circuit from our desktops and try to guess which house is Greg’s!

Spot Does Dallas.

*hehe*

Spot.

What book would Greg take to the National Library speed novel-lovers event?

I wonder if a nice back tickle would do the trick, or a spot of toenail clipping?

I suppose if you ended up on your back every Thursday you could multi-task by planning the shopping list, working out what you were going to wear to work tomorrow and daydreaming about the cute guy you met at lunch. Or you could just lie back and mentally tick off the dollars and cents until it was over …. That might work if you didn’t have to kiss him.

Or maybe he’s so hot that you’d be like, “Oh my God, Greg! Where have you been all my life?! Hit me with your best shot, baby! Fire away!!”

In fact, he may even be performing a valuable community service for the more partner-challenged ladies, and if he was really smart he’d advertise as a companion for the “discerning mature woman – age not an object” and get paid while he was at it!

Maybe Greg’s had a couple of people who’ve been interested, but when it comes dow to working out the finer details of the arrangement – you know, whose job is it to put the bins out that sort of thing, when they get to the “intimate contact” clause it’s been a case of … “you want me to do WHAT! with the chicken?”

Greg has now changed his ad to say: “Free accomodation in exchange for some regular (negotiable) intimate contact. Own room and bathroom and use of all facilities.”

It’s negotiable now…

I have enough knitted Daleks to behave as a flock. My own legion of cuddly evil!!

Meanwhile, back on topic, Greg appears to still be awaiting his perfect room-mate.

I would definitely think so, SheepGroper. I have made a Dalek out of cake, so I’m certain that steel wool would work nicely!

peterh said :

Every sheep is important – especially since three sheep don’t behave as a flock, only four and above do.

Mind you, if you had enough steel wool, could you knit yourself a Dalek?

Ah, all those Kambahrites who like in “Upper Kambah” can feel superior.

I wonder if Greg really put the ad up, or if someone put it there in his name for humour value? Kind like signing people up for free literature from the Church of Jesus Crist and the Latter day Saints.

bugger that. i will stick to being a mid kambah resident. wonder if greg is upper or lower kambah? might explain a lot….

Yep, it’s their solution to the old “What about all those people who died without finding out about your religion? Are they damned as well?” question. The Mormons can be a good genealogical source, if you don’t mind your ancestors becoming posthumous Mormons 🙂

I still think you people have too much time on your hands but good on you for debating the real issues. Isn’t there ANYTHING to do in Canberra? And, Pommie Bastard, well done on your comments. I am enjoying reading about the things that matter to Canberrans. Keep it up. Cheers from your correspondent in Turkey.

I’d say you have too much time on your hands petunia, if you are in Turkey and posting on a site which you hint at being no good. Perhaps go and find an equivalent site hosted somewhere like Cappadocia, and RA to people who actually enjoy it?!

Would you like some? I’m surrounded by them here. I just got some beer (Utah beer, sigh) at teh supermarket and teh lady looked very unhappy about it. I bet she would send you some LDS free literature.

Did you know teh Mormons baptize everyone into the Church after they die? That’s why they have the best genealogy resource in the world.

Isn’t Wanniassa a giant suburb too?

I think that Kambah is actually about twice as big as the next largest Canberra suburb (not four times as previously stated).

I once heard an anecdote recounted by a long time Canberra resident who once worked in the NCDC (which I understand to be a predecessor of the NCA but from pre-self government days). He claimed that Kambah was originally going to be two suburbs – Kambah was the area to the west of Drakeford Drive and the area to the east was going to be called Mount Taylor, but bureaucrats within the NCDC felt that “Mount Taylor” sounded too elitist so the whole lot just became Kambah.

Thanks elena, I had always wondered why Kambah was so much bigger than the average Canberra suburb, anyone else shed some light???
Good comments also on the topic.

Apparently Kambah was an experiment.

(that’s why it’s 4 time bigger than any other suburb, something to do with town satellites gone mad – but just the first statement sounds so good to say)

I will also say that Greg should probably get out more and get a life rather than trying to get some ‘initmacy’ delivered to his door. As if that would ever work in real life. He should try getting some sun and some fresh air and working out what he really wants with his life, aiming for that and in not being a hopeless loser maybe he’ll be able to find a mate in one of the more traditional ways.

(and speaking as a chick imho the power imbalance suggested in this situation seems like bad bad news)

I still think you people have too much time on your hands but good on you for debating the real issues. Isn’t there ANYTHING to do in Canberra? And, Pommie Bastard, well done on your comments. I am enjoying reading about the things that matter to Canberrans. Keep it up.
Cheers from your correspondent in Turkey.

i reckon they are dung beetles….

How very odd! Well, I shouldn’t really vote since I can’t tell a scarab from a dung beetle, but I’ll go with poptop on this.

peterh said :

Five sheep, there must have been a couple of lambings since you looked at them last.

peterh said :

I think that you will find that they are “christmas” beetles, and are the same as the black beetles that burrow into your lawn and then kill it. no dung involved. There are also bogong moths, 3 sheep out the front of the carpark, and a sheep dog sitting on a sheep in the centre itself. Beats the hell out of black pole with orange flailing arms, or painted koppers logs with rocks. Kambah got off lightly. the rest of canberra will be decorated with lavish artworks, but we have ours….

I believe them to be scarab beetles, not Christmas beetles.

Here’s a link to my ancient slide show of sheep, beetles and dog in Kambah. Let the people decide!

16 – 99 years old?

It would serve him right if a 90+ year old rocked up for the room..

Good old Kambah..

*lol* Me too!

PS – I prefer the dung beetles to “Greg” of Ragless Circuit.

I live in Kambah and scarabs ARE dung beetles, Granny.

The Egyptians had the Sacred Scarab pushing the great dung orb of the sun and burying it underground each night.

Well, then I love dung beetles! No odder than sculpting sheep I suppose.

Dung beetles are the reason you can eat outside here in Canberra, and not have your bruschetta covered in blowflies.

Why would they choose dung beetles? How odd. Maybe they’re meant to be scarabs or somesuch. Are you sure they’re dung beetles?? I’d be a bit offended if I were a Kambahite. I suppose I should be grateful we just got giant spikes emerging from the ground in Gungahlin ….

Rilly. I have photos.

Sheep, dung beetles (bronze mainly and a enormous granite one) and a drover’s dog.

The sheep are best; as they get decorated for major festivals.

Dung beetles?

Be rude about us, but leave our sheep alone!

Would you believe the Kambah shopping village is full of bronze dung beetles?

Hahahaha sex in exchange to live in Kambah hahaha.

I would understand sex in exchange for not having to live in Kambah.

$0 to share flat, wanted flatmate/girlfriend to share unit in Griffith, ACT.

Pure speculation on my part, but could this not be a young/not so young female with a spare room in a unit, who wants companionship?

Yes, I reckon they would deserve it. More likely your new flatmake would start working at home in the same industry the advertiser is encouraging them to join.

I can’t find the ad. It is not listed anymore. Maybe he has found what he was looking for.

tylersmayhem1:18 pm 16 Feb 09

pull your head in…

Proof, you need to chill out man. That response is a little hard core to anthers point of view!

At the end of the day, it’s probably a dweeb looser with a bunch on money, and believe that by having a girl move in for free, that one thing will eventually lead to another and hey presto – life long partner.

Now imagine if the girl resisted these plans, can you imagine what the angry dweeb would do next?! I’ll tell you…out the door with a bunch of “I gave yo free accommodation and I get no appreciation in return” etc etc. Indeed Granny, sounds like a bit of a nightmare in reality!

tylersmayhem1:04 pm 16 Feb 09

It could simply involve a busy home owner who would give free accommodation in exchange for the cleaning to be done, laundry cooking etc. Yes, while it might be rather naive sounding of me, but perhaps this is the expectation, not just a sex slave as has been suggested.

I’m sure Skid is just kidding about it being sexist and I find his comment quite amusing.

Abuse? I think there’s far too much consent here to think there’s abouse NECESSARILY going on.

It’s a very interesting ad and I really have to think more before I comment more specifically about it….hmmm…..

“Those already in the industry could afford to do heaps better.”

Know how to play the player. They do heaps better because they know how to. The Girlfriend/sugardaddy thing is a difficult job. It helps if you go into the job with some support.

I see these adds in the same light as matchmakers penis photo adds. The only winner is the advertising revenue.

Homeless and desperate may have already fled men like these.

I’m wondering what you would have to clean for an inspection! 🙂

After a divorce settlement, the more financially powerful partner often has to pay for some of the other partners living expenses. They don’t get ANY sex.

Now that’s abuse!

It sounds like a nightmare to me. Just imagine your landlord turning up whenever the hell he wanted, and feeling like he owned your body as well as your living space.

Would appeal mostly to the homeless and desperate. Those already in the industry could afford to do heaps better.

Don’t hate the player, hate the game.

dunno bout a good man….but almost immpossible ta find a good sheila in canberra these days…..they are just like parking spaces…..all the gooduns are already taken and the only ones left are all bloody handicapped…..

..and they say it’s hard to find a good man these days!

If you are a young girl and you are considering answering this add you might like to know your full entitlements.

Sex can be billed at $250 (Minimum) an hour, contact time. That would mean that for 2 hours a week of sex, you should have full use of the flat minus him.

The girlfriend experience is far more expensive and would include lifes luxuries. Car, phones, computers, foxtel, jewlrey, regular entertainment, food and wads of cash when asked for. This still does not include full contact and should be negotiated for 5 days a week (maximum).

Don’t sell your self short. Don’t settle for cheap stuff.

Pommy bastard10:43 am 16 Feb 09

If a young woman already worked in the sex industry, this could be a way of reducing her living expenses.

Clown Killer10:41 am 16 Feb 09

Its probably not sexist to list a preference. But what it may be is abusive.

Offering accommodation for sex couldn’t be anything other than abusive surely?

Luring a young girl to a flat with the intention of holding power over her. It would be the young girls who are already vulnerable, who are more likely to answer this add.

Obviously.

It also could be a form of prostitution and thus taxable.

Would that make it right?
