Reported COVID cases crack 2000 for first time in months

Canberra’s reported COVID-19 infections are up again for the sixth week in a row.

According to the latest ACT Health report, there were 2239 new cases in the week to Thursday afternoon. That compares with 1757 cases over the same period last week.

There were 1449 new cases over the previous week and 1194 new cases the week before that. In the first week of November, there were 910 new cases and in the last week of October, there were 731 new cases.

A woman in her 90s has died with COVID in the past week, taking the total number of deaths in the ACT since the beginning of the pandemic in March 2020 to 130.

As of Thursday, there were 33 people in hospital, one down on last week. None were in intensive care.

The latest cases brought the ACT’s total infections to 216,088 since March 2020. Of the new cases, 874 were found using the PCR testing method and 1365 by RAT.

In terms of vaccinations, 76.9 per cent of people aged five to 15 have had two doses; 78.6 per cent of those aged 16-plus have had three jabs and the 64.3 per cent of those eligible over 50 have had the full four doses.

Remember 2 masks are more effect than one. Don’t forget your 8th booster

Might be an idea to put a mask on when at the shopping centres or on public transport!

Well people who have half a brain would already be doing that, sadly people have become complacent or don’t give a toss and that’s why cases are rising.
