5:20pm Tuesday 30 November 2010 – Girl rescued from stormwater drain ACT Fire Brigade and ACT Ambulance Service have been on scene of a rescue of a 14-year-old girl from a stormwater drain near Captain Cook Cr and Canberra Ave, Griffith.
ACT Fire Brigade en-route to where the area the girl was reported to have fallen in, saw the patient waving her arms.
Fire crews then removed the grates of a drain and pulled the girl to safety from fast running water. It is estimated the girl travelled through 400 metres of pipe.
ACT Ambulance Service intensive care paramedics treated the patient for minor injuries and emotional shock and transported her to The Canberra Hospital.
