I’m an honours student at the Australian National University and I would like to invite you to participate in an online questionnaire study investigating whether an awareness of bodily sensations and how they are interpreted by a person can explain their feelings of anxiety.

We are also examining the role of mindfulness in reducing people’s feelings of anxiety.

The survey should take no longer than 30 minutes to complete. Participants who are currently living outside Australia or are under 18 years of age are unfortunately not eligible to participate.

The ethical aspects of this research have been approved by the Australian National University Human Research Ethics Committee, ethics protocol: 2015/358

Hasnt this already been researched by a significant number of people with a significant number of findings and reports already avaliable to the general public.

While there has been research into the cognitive interpretations of bodily sensations in relation to specific disorders in clinical samples, this study is exploring the effect of a broad tendency to be internally focused, called interoceptive ability in a broad sample, which has a different measure and focus. But yes, there is a strong link between anxiety and bodily sensations. We will also be looking at how individual mindfulness and fear of bodily sensations affects this relationship, which haven’t been included in a single study.

But thanks for the link, there are some good articles in there =)
