Now that the headaches have cleared and the bleary eyes have brightened how are you going for resolutions in 2012.

I noticed a lot of conspicuous first timers on the bike paths on the way to work this morning. Well done all of you, bask in the knowledge of how much parking and gym time you’re saving!

But what about the rest of you? Just share your ideas in the comments.

Sell my white commodore and keep my nature strip neat and tidy.

Put my garbage in the bin and remember to redirect my mail…..

What is a good trusted non religious affiliated sponsor child program?

UNICEF… you won’t get an actual child to sponsor, but the money will go to programmes aimed at children.

I was giving to UNICEF very regularly by direct debit this year – they called seeking “Global Parents”, I signed up etc etc. Have to say though that they really do put the hard word on you trying from time to time to get more out of you. I know it’s their job, but I got to the point where I was about to call the whole thing off rather if the caller didn’t back off – especially after being told I wasn’t going to up the not insignificant amount for a number of perfectly valid reasons. I then had a change of credit card number and they have twice failed to hang on to the new number – so they have done themselves out of a good few months payments. I’ll set it up again in due course – if not them, then some other worthwhile charity.

I stole mine a few years ago from my boyfriend… But mine again is “Dont be s***.”

It’s been easy to live up to…

If i can look back on the year and say it was great.. I wasnt shit!

Try Plan if you’d like a sponsor child overseas, or the Smith Family’s Learning for Life to sponsor an Australian child. I’ve been sponsoring a child through each for about 10 years and have found both charities good (neither are affiliated with any religion).

Ah that’d explain why there was so many wobblers on Adelaide Av this morning.

Pray tell – what makes a first timer “conspicuous” please? I have been toying with the idea of riding to work a couple of times a week (yet to do a trial run on a weekend first to work out the off road bike paths through the inner north) but the idea of sticking out like a sore thumb or some other kind of appendage is not one I had considered.

Would be good to know how to not get on JB’s radar while pedalling around town 🙂

Well first I wouldn’t worry about it. Everyone has to start somewhere.

But mostly it’s just not having bike and carrying rigs nailed down.

Once you’ve got a groove on everything’s a lot smoother.

This ^^^^ but you do get to know the regulars on the run. The newbies are usually on crap bikes that don’t fit them properly are poorly maintained and generally don’t look comfortable.

If you get through the intitial thing of “bugger this is not easy” hopefully you will be thinking “this is not easy but I am determined to do it”, buy a decent bike, maintain it well & a minimum of riding gear (at least a pair of padded pants and a rack for your stuff) you are well on the way to being a regular, particularly if you have a long commute. Nothing worse than your bum hurting, your t shit flapping or your backpack digging into your back for 30km so some gear is neccesary.

Short commutes of up to 10km you really dont need too much stuff but as it gets longer the more comfortable you are the more likely you are to do it.

Do, it. Stop procrastinating. After a while you will hate driving to work. There is no real excuse for any able bodied person who lived within 10km of the city not to 🙂

My new years resolutions: No beer until after the Mont 24 Hour at the end of March & 90kg’s. I managed to find myself back up to 99 kegs after xmas………….fish more & take the kids camping more so Mrs KB can have a bit more time to herself.

So far I am 5 days in & I am not missing the beer & I am back to 96 kegs. Damn I am missing the chocholate though!!!!!! I also love McFlurries, Maccas is now less than 20m away from work & I am determined to not indulge 😛

Stop watching crap telly, get more s*** done.

A shiny new bike with far too many accessories attached to it is fairly typical at this time of year.

I stuck to my holiday resolution to drink alcohol (in moderation), every day, (in the evening with dinner etc you understand and not just all day – although at times I could’ve!). And now that I am back to work I can make myself feel good by cutting down on alcohol – so it’s win win!

I have declared, (privately at this stage as I’m still working through the marketing and promotion), that 2012 is the “Year of Me”. I think I should be able to stick to that.

Participate… Embrace opportunities… Lurn 2 prrofcheque good on RA…

My mother-in-law has the resolution to drink more varieties of wine. I think this is the best sort of resolution; its achievable.

My resolution? 1920×1200, same as it was last year.
