The seemingly endless round of Canberra property sales records continues with an extravagant property in Conder setting a price record for the suburb as well as the region.

The six-bedroom, five-bathroom home at 5 Muskett Place in Conder sold under the hammer for $1.63 million, smashing Tuggeranong’s regional record of $1.4 million and Conder’s suburb record of $1.27 million in one go.

Selling agent Zac Morris of One Agency Sandy Morris said tensions were high among the registered bidders, with an impressive crowd gathered to witness the sale on Thursday evening.

“We didn’t know exactly what price the property would sell for, but we knew it would break the record. We had a few keen bidders, so we were expecting a tense bidding war and that is what happened,” Mr Morris said.

“This is a 500 square metre property that cost a lot to build. In the end, both the seller and buyer were happy they got value.”

The successful bidders were a family who bought the house for extended family to live nearby.
