Restaurant train?

Dacquiri 7 March 2011 2

Haven’t seen any reviews of the Railway Historical Society’s restaurant train (to Bungendore & back).

Has anyone tried it?

I am thinking of getting a few friends together to celebrate my birthday and wondered how it was in terms of quality and ambiance?

I got given free tickets on Mothers’ Day a couple of years ago and I loved it. Free champagne at 11 and the lunch was nice. My only gripe was that they didn’t really stop long enough in Bungendore for me to walk a 3yo into town and back, so we were kinda stuck at the playground near the school waiting for the train to leave again.

Have not done the restaurant train to Bungendore but have done the new years eve trip to Sydney and back a couple of times. The food was great, service was with a smile and the bar prices were very reasonable. The volunteers who run these activities are great and obviously enjoy what they do so I would have no doubt the restaurant trip would also be very worthwhile.
