Andrew Barr is letting you all know about the 2013 National Capital Rally:

Canberra will host the 2013 National Capital Rally, which will hit the streets of Canberra and surrounds from 1-3 March 2013.

A ceremonial start in the city will ensure spectators can view the Rally’s competing cars and crews, while forest viewing areas will provide close access to the action, only minutes from the city.

The National Capital Rally is round 1 of the 2013 Bosch Australian Rally Championships (ARC), which is broadcast on national television, generating massive national exposure each year. Last year’s event was seen by 2.5 million viewers nationally.

The National Capital Rally is expected to attract up to 3,000 visitors to Canberra for over three nights, while national TV coverage will promote the capital as a destination for major sporting events.

Good to see someone at least supporting motorsport.

Was a great opportunity to talk to Eli Evans and Glen Weston at the launch this morning and check out their G2 Honda … weapon of a car.

I hope the Canberra Community get out and support this event, … all spectator points to view the event are free of charge

This years wasn’t seen because Govco cancelled it!

I cannot believe that this pack of turkeys expect this bone will get the motorists to vote for them. There is a wide range of motor sport, and whilst rallying has been a huge interest among local enthusiasts for probably 40 years, Govco’s passing of motorsport specific noise laws show precisely where their lack of interest lies.

Stanhope engineered these noise laws, and I’m sure his underlings have learnt well.

Once elected – you make too much noise – Bugger off.

Exactly. Announced just before an election; then there will be no more for 4 years, and lo and behold, suddenly motorsports are important again.

Yeah, sure it was.

2.5 million views maybe. 25 stages, and during each state 100,000 people each channel surfed past it at least once.

Personally I like a good rally a lot more then burnouts and summernats style “motor enthusiasm” but I find that statistic as dubious as you do, and that colours my impression of the who release.
