Br1anL has sent in this gem:

I managed to snap this today in Belconnen at lunch time 😉

There was no one in the car!

Obviously thought he couldn’t fully fit so just tried a half fit.

Or should that be half wit 😛

Weird thing is, even allowing for the camera angle, it looks like he is perfectly lined up to make it, IMO would’ve been fine if he/she had just kept going. Might have ended up just slightly close to car behind, but could easily drive forward and straighten up.

This is peculiar. I have found Canberrans to be the best reverse parkers I’ve seen..

The end result might appear satisfactory, but from what I see every day the execution is usually several minutes of flailing arms, head swiveling and curb mounting before the driver finally bumbles their way into a position parallel to the street.

The car looks like it is ‘parked’ near the Pot Belly. Maybe someone was busting their gut to get a pot?

This is peculiar. I have found Canberrans to be the best reverse parkers I’ve seen…just a trip round TCH car park tells you how many people are confident to reverse park, not seen that in any other country.
It’s when they go forwards that their brains stop working.

Obviously a Parent With A Pram because apparently they can’t park in normal parking spaces.

Can you receive a parking ticket for such a poor effort?

Not sure what the link is to legislation but went to check the road rules:

Parallel parking:
You MUST park:
……at least one metre from any vehicle in front and behind.

95% of drivers in town should have been booked.

What is all the fuss about? it’s clearly angled parking.

Parallel parking:
You MUST park:
• in-line with, and as close as
practicable to, the kerb;
• entirely within any marked bays;
• at least one metre from any vehicle in
front and behind.
The recommended distance from the kerb
is 30 cms.

Only in Belcompton, aaiiigghhhtttt….

Can you receive a parking ticket for such a poor effort?

They are the new “Volvo Drivers”.

As a former Volvo owner I can tell you that I didn’t have problems parking properly, nor was I ever involved in crashes where I was at fault, so we’re not all hopeless as everyone makes out. These days I have joined the bogan brigade and have a white Commodore.

Hooray! Thank you driver, you just made me feel 100x better about my parking skills!

Well cut my hair and call me baldy … an incompetent driving a Subi.
