Review of Jamison Markets

Well that time of my life had finally occured, after several years of life in the Defence Force, and multiple house moves, I finally obtained a garage full of stuff that I could only best describe as ‘extra’, so the decision was made to grab a stall at Jamison Markets on Sunday, and flog it all off to the highest bidder.

As far as the experience went, I found it a great way to relieve myself of the burden of a garage full of junk, although it does get a little testing when you are trying to sell an item that you purchased new for over $100, and have put a $5 pricetag on it, to be offered $0.20. If you are considering heading down there to empty out your garage, here’s a couple of tips:

1. Aim low. The people who attend Jamison Markets aren’t the Yarralumla Yuppie crowd, and the $2 in their pockets isn’t accompanied by any others. They will offer you what they have, but can’t offer you too much more. If you want the Yuppie crowd, go to Hall or Kingston.

2. Haggle. Be prepared to negotiate over around 80% of your sales. People will persistently offer you less than the pricetag, and if you are prepared to drop a dollar or two off the price, you are likely to get the sale.

3. There is a YMCA just down the road that will accept the items you don’t/can’t sell.

That’s about it, all you need to know to make your Jamison Markets experience a great opportunity to empty out that garage full of ‘extras’, and pocket a few dollars on the way.

Jamison Markets is on (?every Sunday?) from 0600 to 1200+ (although I’d recommend getting there around 4 in the morning to get a good spot)

No computer fairy… but there is a blue tooth fairy

Fair point Random, guess I was just lucky. Mine were still in boxes, maybe that helped.

col, in my experience they are usually flaky and full of dead pixels because they are loaded, unloaded, fiddled, dropped and on display several times a week. As opposed to once for all 5 if they go to a retail store.

jazz has been focusing on the pregnant wifey Mael.

Huh, my computer fair Samsung flatscreens are things of beauty RandomGit, no probs at all (yet 🙂

Computer Fair Tip 1
When ever you make a purchase always get a Receipt and a business card from the vendor….

That was the most fantastically useful thing I’ve ever seen posted here.

We need a Computer Fair guru to share their Tips n Tricks.

Yeah, would love to get rid of some of my own extras, but my days of dealing with tyre kickers and the GP are over. Think I’ll just call the Salvo’s instead as none of my extras are terribly valuable cash wise…

Good job Mael.
