The Monthly has a lengthy piece by the entertainer Rhys Muldoon on the demise of Kevin Rudd.

Once you get over the initial surprise at just how close to the inner wheel Muldoon was rotating it’s a pretty good look at how life on the hill works, and worked that fateful night.

Great. How many other Play School presenters are running around APH without escort?

I don’t know about presenters, but I think Big Ted and Little Ted were on Rudd’s staff.

Oh, hang on, we had better be careful… He’ll log on and complain about how we aren’t taking his views seriously.

You could always do the passive aggressive apology all pollies are experts in.

“I apologise if you took offence to my comments”

“I’m sorry if you misinterpreted my intentions”

“I regret the miscommunication”

That was a good read.

Next up, Hi-5 talks about the fall of Pauline Hanson.

If I recall rightly they bonded over the writing of a book about Krudd’s dog – that might explain his closeness.

I spent six hours at Muldoon’s table at a conference a couple of years ago … Rhys (he is very nice) is in fact JUST like a restless, tail-wagging, easy-to-please puppy dog himself!

Not complaining! But when did Riotact decide to start covering federal politics?

We’re noting the great deal of locality in that story.

If I recall rightly they bonded over the writing of a book about Krudd’s dog – that might explain his closeness. I think Kevin sounds like a sociopath and would probable keep anyone close if they stroked his ego enough. Does not excuse JG from anything she has subsequenly done, including running an average government who seem content to lose.

Could be worse, we could be looking down the barrell of Mit Romney. I mean, Mit…Mit…what sort of a name is that? I have a theory that anyone in US political sphere who has a slightly odd name will go down in flames eventually….think Scooter Libby. It only takes the American run offs to make you feel lucky.

The piece only reinforces the view that Gillard is a wretched duplicitous human being.

A politician then?

I really dislike Australian politics as it has become today. Especially seeing we’re stuck with either team red or team blue. A choice between a kick in the nuts or a punch to the balls.

I do too and I agree.

Couldn’t have said it better myself. I think it’s incredibly disappointing that she gets to lay claim to the honour of being our first ever female prime minister. An honour wasted on the dishonourable.
