ACT Policing is investigating an attempted aggravated robbery in Canberra’s south last night (Sunday, August 28) which left a 48-year-old Richardson man injured.
Around 6.45pm, the man was walking home when he was confronted by three men near the Johnson Drive underpass in Richardson.
One of the men asked the victim if he had anything for him. When the victim told the men he had nothing to give them, one of the men punched him in the back of the head, knocking him to the ground.
The victim managed to get off the ground while the offenders continued to assault him. He fought back, preventing any of his property being taken and the three offenders left empty handed.
As a result of the incident, the man attended The Canberra Hospital for treatment of injuries to his stomach, shoulders and ribs.
Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident, or may have seen a group of men near the Johnson Drive underpass around 6.45pm last night to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or report via the Crime Stoppers website on www.act.crimestoppers.com.au.
