RiotAct AFL Dream Team League

By Mothy - 27 March 2012 19

I’m surprised with the number of people prepared to offer up an opinion on the prospects of GWS on here that someone hasn’t done this already, but I’ve started an AFL Dream Team League for RiotAct followers to compete in.

League Code is 728447, League Name “The RiotAct Rabble”.

Post a reply here if it fills up and we should start another.

I freely profess to knowing little about AFL beyond an interstate membership to the Hawthorn Football Club, passing media exposure, and the occasional google news search for info on a given player who fits the price range, so you’ll likely beat home at least one other participant.

What’s Your opinion?

Doesn’t look like my first match up in the league is an active player as their average score of 1,011 for the first two rounds relegates them to the Melbourne equivalent of the RiotAct league for 2013.

So, what lessons did Round 3 teach?

First – make sure you are looking at the right league. Stuart’s Tommahawks slaughtered me and that gimmie match was in another league. I scored a shocking 1,674 with Beau Waters injury “during the warm up” giving me a doughnut with no emergency named in the back line.

Second Lesson – you are allowed four emergencies. Use them.

GWS’s Patton scored 15 before his knee injury. North’s Petrie scored a mere 34 (and cost $31,900 on price drop as a result).

Trades: Patton out for Neade at Port (fingers crossed no green vest), and Kommer out for Viney.

Okay, so Round 1 saw me score 1,783 with Ryder and Armstrong the problem children, with Ryder traded out for rookie Sam Rowe in the forward line and Armstrong for Gibbs to try to shore up the defenders.

I should have been a little more careful with that – with Essendon slaughtering Melbourne in round 2, Ryder went on to score 86 while Rowe only brought in 59 in the hard fought game against Collingwood.

In the end though, Round 2 wasn’t a total loss with a score of 1,926.

Moving in to Round 3, I’ve only seen the need for one change – dropping North Melbourne’s Ben Jacobs out of my defense and picking up Dyson Heppell instead.

How have others done in the first two rounds?

One more bump, join league 516399 6 spots available.

I’ve scored 400 off 6 players from the first two games. Damn Patrick Ryder of Essendon failed to live up to his price (465k) and delivered a lousy 45 points.

Whipping this horse once more between ALP Press Conferences.

League Code 516399 for 2013 (cop that recent comments feed).

Bump Again,

Come on Rioters we managed to fill a league last year!

Go Hawks.

BUMP AGAIN

Johnboy – if possible, can we get an edit of the original post with a note that the League Code for 2013 is 516399?

We don’t have a full league yet guys – remember you can be a member of the RiotAct league as well as your workplace/mates league with capacity to be in up to 5 leagues!

Apologies for not posting sooner but September disappeared in a haze of nappies after my second born arrived early. There may have been a round 23, but I missed it entirely, and remember something about my beloved hawks almost borking the match against Adelaide before failing to kick straight and losing the grand final.

Congratulations to our RiotAct Dream Team League winner Nick, with his team “LionHearts” winning the “Grand Final” after also finishing top of the ladder. Beaten in only two of the 17 matches, with the highest weekly average of 2044, he certainly put the rest of us to the sword.

And I finished 14th… knocked out of the bottom-8 finals in the first round.

Friday, teams are out… and I’ve got four that aren’t named for this weekend!!!!

Where the hell are the Hawks Paul Puopolo and Liam Shiels? At $300k and $500k that’s two massive holes to fill in. Throw in Brisbane’s Zorko (yeah, I jumped on a bandwagon there) and needing a rookie in my midfield I’ve got some issues!

Loved the build up during the week to the point that Richmond we’re being touted as specials for the win tonight. Haha.

16/18 now, we’re almost full without needing to use the “celebrity” coaches.

Collingwood: Well, there’s a couple of those ilk in my midfield… have spent a bit on some well known names and then googled the bejaysus out of rookie lists on DT Talk.

Got burned last year putting too many of my beloved Hawks in there. This year GWS will either be my salvation or damnation I suspect – trying to make money off the rookies.

Dead easy.. I say dead easy Son ..

Just slide in the Collingwood Football Club playing list.

Yeah .. few vacancies due to injuries at the moment but it will sort itself out. The coach may need to come out of retirement to make up the players, but be good to see him back. Watch them belt the hawks Friday.

Yeah right Merc. Hawks by five goals at least.
