Canberra Business Chamber & RiotACT partnership

The RiotACT and Canberra Business Chamber are excited to announce a new partnership that will serve to keep local businesses updated on important events and initiatives affecting business life in the Capital.

New RiotACT owners Tim White and Michael McGoogan are themselves successful entrepreneurs, who have grown and sold multi-million dollar businesses. Both have worked with many of Canberra’s leading business men and women, and are actively involved in supporting the local business community.

Since taking ownership of The RiotACT, website traffic and social media followings have grown by thousands. The site is fast becoming one of Canberra’s leading providers of independent digital regional news, with the new team (led by award-winning journalist Charlotte Harper) dedicated to covering any and all issues directly affecting the ACT and surrounding regions.

To ensure effective coverage of our thriving business sector, Tim and Michael welcomed the opportunity to become a corporate member of Canberra Business Chamber.

“’We are very excited to work closely with the Chamber,” says Tim. “I’ve had the privilege of working previously with many of the board members, who have supported me throughout my business journey. I have the utmost respect for their business acumen and commitment to supporting local businesses. Michael and I look forward to working with them to promote all that Canberra has to offer local business.”

Canberra Business Chamber was established two years ago, and has quickly grown to represent over 70% of ACT businesses (by way of direct membership or association). From micro-businesses to larger corporations, the Chamber acts as a focal point for business owners in Canberra by providing ongoing support, education and advocacy.

In addition to promoting their businesses, members of the Chamber are able to access a suite of networking events and valuable courses. Examples include the popular Business After Business events and the upcoming ACT Chief Ministers Address as well as courses on food safety, marketing, leasing and business fundamentals. They provide ongoing workplace relations advice to members with employees – helping them stay up-to-date with changing regulations and manage their workforce confidently.

Canberra Business Chamber is also a central advocate for regulation reform. They regularly hold round table meetings with Ministers and senior government decision-makers so relevant members can attend, learn about government policy, and provide valuable input.

With so much to offer, it was a natural step to partner with the RiotACT, who can assist in keeping current and future Canberra business owners informed.

“The Chamber realises that communication channels have broadened from traditional print media,” says Robyn Hendry, CEO of Canberra Business Chamber. “So we’re pleased to partner with the RiotACT to ensure we reach a broad audience and can update Canberra on everything the Chamber is working on and actively involved in.”

Robyn and her team will provide regular updates on news, initiatives, and events from Canberra Business Chamber throughout the year.
