RiotAct breakfast mushrooms

Whilst perusing the breakfast menu for Café in the House I could not help but notice something a little unusual included with the sweetcorn fritters.

Great to see that some businesses around town read reviews that the public write.

Now.. if only we could do something about the Ginger Catering’s adverts…

[ED – We can only hope they’re not the fly agarics.]

How can it “not be possible” to cook eggs the way the customer requests ? I can’t stand pretentious cooks.

hmmm! Next person to go there, can you check if there’s a grainy photo of me behind the cash register?!

Woohoo! Ant is famous!!

Cafe in the House is among the lowest of all establishments in Canberra. Dated decor, pretentious white table cloths and second rate food delivered with considerable delay. After receiving a luke warm latte with a nasty bitter flavour and what was obviously a microwaved suffle, I haven’t been back.

Agree, had a pretentious and lukewarm experience there recently.

Yes. At Cafe in the House, I asked could the eggs be cooked, so they didn’t wobble, and the (boy) waiter did the eyebrows up and in-suck of breath, and said he’d ask but it might not be possible. When the very wobbly liquid eggs came, the rest of the table had a good chuckle and it transpired that about half the party also disliked liquid eggs.

Have you tried asking for your eggs well done?

I reckon people should be able to have liquid eggs if they want them. but conversly, if one wants ones eggs not liquid, one should also be able to have that. I want mine nice and fried, with crunchy bits around the edges.

As for those mushrooms, they were OK, but very dry and austere. For breakfast, you usually get more moist things. Hence, they were lunch mushrooms. Now “riotact” mushrooms.

They could have done better with the whole “big” breakfast. I still reckon it was breakfast devised by someone who doesn’t really like breakfast all that much.

Love my eggs liquid. Who’s going to go and try the new breakfast menu?

I might go try, just inspite of ant! Looking forward to the runny eggs. 🙂

I love the Ginger Catering ads! It always warms my heart by the second one – “Ahh, they got married!” I too had not made the connection with the red head.

Those ads induce anorexia. Or bulimia at the very least – they make you want to throw up.

or inside a meatloaf…

And they don’t cook the Big Breakfast eggs “any way”, they cook ’em liquid.

Cant remember if I commented on your original review, but fried eggs are at their best when runny! 😉

Eggs should only be solid when boiled for a salad. 😛

I’m a ginger- no persecution type feelings over here. I hate all ads.

Haha! I’d never picked up on the hair, I just think the ads are twee and awkward.

Ha, smart alecs! I guess I should’ve been a bit more descriptive about breakfast mushrooms vs lunch mushrooms.

And they don’t cook the Big Breakfast eggs “any way”, they cook ’em liquid.

Those fritters sound rather nice though.

In total agreement. It wouldn’t be appropriate to have ads for a company called “Black Catering” with an African’s life being documented, because that would be considered racist.

I hate the ads because it singles out a group of people who already feel persecuted because of their hair colour.

That should read “if only we could do something about Ginger Catering’s adverts…”. I was originally going to comment on the jingle only, however I decided the whole ad irritated me.
