Those of us holding out for a relatively settled 2022 gig calendar are experiencing something of a rude awakening. COVID-related cancellations are continuing to rock the music scene and not in a good way.

Best practice is to keep an eye on the event page for any show you’re hoping to attend to keep across any possible cancellations or postponements.

That said, there are plenty of local artists taking to the stage this week to celebrate the start of a new year of Canberra music.

Northbourne will be joined by band besties A Commoner’s Revolt, Blue Milk, and Modern Age Band for their show at Smith’s Alternative on Friday. Over in Lyneham, Strawberry Prince leads a lineup of local singer-songwriters performing at The Front that includes Ian Smelting and Ed York.

One22 are kicking off their Community series for the year with a special appearance from Naarm/Melbourne’s Tornado Wallace.

Revheads will be well aware that Summernats is also back in town this week. As the dust settles on a day of drifts and doughnuts, the festival’s music lineup comes to life. This year you’ll be able to catch performances from Hooligan Hefs, Kerser, and Hot Dub Time Machine among others.
