[Ed . We’re back. did you miss us? Thanks to Velocity Internet RiotACT is now running off a lovely 100mb link out of the Transact Data Centre.]

Dear Reader,

Every so often we in RiotACT management decide to get out our angle grinder again and make weird and wonderful changes to the site or the server hardware underpinning it. Hopefully these are for the better and more often than not, we try to make those changes as invisible to everyone.

Unfortunately there are somethings that we cant hide from you, cause you are all so smart. Tomorrow night we’re having one of those. We’re moving the RiotACT servers into the transact data centre where, it is intended, we will be able to provide you with a much more responsive and stable site. The downside of this is that we have to take the site down for a short time to relocated and hence this notice. So without further ado, here it is:

RiotACT will be offline from 8pm tomorrow evening (31/8/07) and should be back online around midday on saturday (1/9/07) while we complete our relocation.

scarey stuff eh?

will get on it gungahlin al. thanks for the heads up, we occasionally miss some of those things.

An entry on the FAQ page should be sufficient.

Noticeably quicker comment loads today chaps – done good.
Now could you fix the href tips above the Leave A Comment box for embedding links pretty please?

Well done – what did you put in the change request?

I’m stuck with Bigpond ADSL. But even so, it seems quicker. Nice work.

I’m with Velocity…. I wonder if me reading Riotact doesn’t count towards my download limit? 🙂

With a full system rebuild and 100Mb network, I’m kinda hoping we are now running quicker. If you are lucky enough to be on Velocity (who are hosting us in the Transact data centre) then it is lightning quick.

Noticeably more responsive today guys.

Nice work.

Bush is in the country next week.

I bet his security detail cars have arrived ay Sydney, so I’ll give him a call.

Wow.
Well, they’ll be safer there than under JB’s bed. Biometric security, special cooling systems, 24×7 surveillance.
And Pandy, maybe you could organize a motorcade for the transportation of the servers. You know, like the secret service uses:)

nooooooooooooooooooooooooo

yes, moving physical servers. and we’re hoping it wont require a sleeping bag

Stupid question perhaps, but are you moving the actual physical servers to the TransACT data center or the site to their servers there? If it’s the former, that is quite a job.

Will the sleeping bag be relocated to the TransACT server room also?

well i guess since johnboys bedroom is no longer available as a server farm….
