Mark Parton, Independent for Ginninderra, showed us what he was made of in All Bar Nun on Thursday night for the Sim Challenge.

In the video Mark impugns the fitness for office of any candidate who has failed to take up the challenge.

He also announces who he would support as Chief Minister, should he hold the balance of power after the election. Compelling viewing.

As Mayor of Partonville Mark scored a bare five green bars of approval rating. His environment was poor, but better than most and improving fast. Health, traffic and education returned good scores. Safety was poor but improving fast, land value poor and getting worse.

To balance his budget Mark brought in a casino, military base, missile base, and supermax prison.

He reached a comparatively high population of 30,849, and never resorted to borrowing.

Fires, however, were a constant affliction in Partonville.

Perhaps he can come to the next one. Are there going to be any more SIM challenges?

Why should he have been there, peterh?

he would have found it as entertaining as us. it was good to see a lighter side of the campaign – and see a candidate that actually enjoyed himself, even when his city was on fire….

and I haven’t seen Jon for a while.

Why should he have been there, peterh?

…and Jon Reynolds, you should have been there.

I was at the “Canberra ASH – Forum on Smoking and Tobacco Issues” instead – bit hard to be in several places at the same time.

I liked the fires! They were spectacularly cool. Plus he had a great sense of humour. I’m sure I’ve voted for people for less than that before.

Severely disappointed in young Adam who, despite my long history of support, demonstrated extreme bias and favouritism towards Mark Parton when he did not give me an Adam 08 t-shirt. I was also disappointed that he had not, in fact, taken my advice and dyed his hair purple.

Actually I think either of them would bring a bit of colour into the assembly, even without the purple hair.

Are the rumours about the real reason he left 106 true?

biggest stroke of genius was building the casino, prison and army base close together – sims could got to the casino, lose their cash and be faced with either jail or the army…

really good performance by mark, and Jon Reynolds, you should have been there.

I doubt it, Danman! Unless he was badly advised early on.

Just got your email, ta!!

Was that a Standope supermax he built ?

There actually was a rail system in Partonville….but it was even less popular than Action buses.

He called me “Granny” … *sigh*

: )

To be fair, Mark did put in a lot of bus stops and actually looked at traffic congestion on key arterial routes when making his decisions on where to put those bus stops

What??! PartonVille had no decent public transport network – no firm commitments to rapid transit, light rail, or even monorail, that sounds more like the “Voice of Treason” to me… 😉
