We’re proud to announce that following Norvan Vogt’s starting round last week our next contestant has committed to the RiotACT Sim Challenge Canberra.

The Democrats’ Greg Tannahill has confirmed that he’ll take on the challenges of city building SimCity4 style in O’Connor’s All Bar Nun on Wednesday 13 August.

It’s starting at a more work-friendly 7pm so come on down, have a beer, watch a real life political candidate show off his priorities, and tell me about everything I’m doing wrong.

UPDATE: Just to remind everyone this is on tonight. I’ll be there wearing my RiotACT Pin so feel free to come up, say hi, and possibly buy me a pint. We’ll also be awarding Thumper his premium membership (and pin) for his tireless work for the site while I was away. Presentation to be made in front of the Todd Carney memorial toilets in a blaze of publicity.

LOL “Candidates – are you ready?”

I read that as Riot-Mech, and thought yeah – that would beat Sim City – have the candidates fight it out against each other on Mech Warriors.
(He says showing how long since he’s had time to play a computer game…)

And not being a computer game player, I inferred ‘Riot Mech’ to mean: have the candidates fight it out against each other as they attempt to service your car.

Yeah was good to have a yarn with the usual faces – pity I could not stay longer but I was digesting my own stomach I was so hungry – and had a hot feed in the oven at home.

You’ll probably see me at the next one too

Nice to meet those of you there tonight. Sorry I was in and out, but it was a long day.

Definitely in for the next one, and more power to the RiotACT Collective in general for services to community building! d:D

Sorry; wrong collective noun. It is, of course, a cushion of pin-wearers.

Nice work, Jazz anb JB on another good night. Greg certainly seemed to know what he was doing, though since I’d have trouble picking ‘Sim City 4’ from a flight simulator out of a line-up, I’ll let others dissect the details. And well-attended; a veritable forest of Riot-ACT pin-heads, I mean, pin-wearers.

Guys I really wanted to go tonight (also had an invite to Pecha Kucha darn it), but my baorder needed a lift from the airport and the I was too tired. I promise I shall show my scootergal face next time.

Just watch where you’re going… I heard you can get whiplash from running into JB!

Bugger, I gotta run to the shops for some milk and smokes, I don’t want to run into you bastards!

hmmm… awww i dunno

They’ll all be loners and keen for someone to talk to, plus you’ll have a pin!

Worst comes to worse you can down pints and ogle the lovelys.

So who is going?

Cause I know if I go I’m just gonna be a loner and know no body

As for the majors we do have some already scheduled for September.

just thought it would be a good place to write it down if the ABN party goes a while…

my memory isn’t that good after several jars…

Yes indeed.

Pony up $50 and you get your pin with a promise to upgrade your membership in the morning.

is that written on a bar coaster?

I’ve got something on tonight but I really want to get to one of these. They look like a bit of fun.

I wonder who (if any) from the majors will step up first.

Hmmm …. Still don’t know about showing my face!

The ACT Democrats intend to re-register after the election. Hopefully with a couple of new MLA’s elected as well, to Keep the Bastards Honest!

Hey, can I ask as a bonus question, will the Riot-Merch be available at this one? (or possibly my ability to pay premium membership by chucking a head-rioter $50 – largely for the “keep the bloody thing going” factor, and of couse the ability to strop about not paying you again)

The tech media led to an interesting debate on Q&A. Banarby Joyce is officially an idiot…’I heard there was a game where you could go around raping people.’…..what…f-king game have you been playing, Joyce?

The dems weren’t allowed to re-register in the same year they were de-registered, which caused them the problems.

On the brightish side we’ve been picked up by the tech media.

(assuming they don’t win a seat) Are the ACT Dems going to reregister as a party next year?

Skidbadnir: What is the purpose of your candidacy?
Greg Tannahill: To crush the major parties, see them driven before me, and to hear the lamentations of their women!

I have no problem with candidates enjoying a drink (I do it myself), so long as they don’t drive themselves home.

Got that (both points). ‘Lame attempt at humour’ is my middle name. A b-tch to fit on the birth certificate, but what can you do?

Can we remember to mention which electorate any candidates are running in, so we don’t bother asking Brindabella-specific questions of the Ginninderra-based candidates?
(Greg is a candidate for Molonglo, btw)

*Norvan*

Christ, on fire today with the typso.

Norman was making short work of those pints. I think the technical term is ‘lobbying for the position of Minister for Territory and Municipal Services’.

“and tell me about everything I’m doing wrong”
Now that’s gonna be hard for a lot of folk to pass up… 🙂
