Roadblock in Fyshwick – Whyalla Street?

By Katietonia - 17 March 2010 15

Just wondering if anyone knows what was going on in Fyshwick yesterday around 4-4:30pm yesterday? Living in Fyshwick I was quite shocked to arrive home, only to be told to turn around by police when I tried to drive down my street.

According to people in businesses on Whyalla street there was a road block, specialist police with what looked like automatic weapons and they were all told to get inside by the police. Nothing has been put up on the ACT Policing website yet.

What’s Your opinion?

If you’re going hand out internet English lessons, make sure you take the time to proof read your own comments. 😛

It was basically a botched police operation.
The D’s were supposed to arrest some baddies when they met up with other baddies, but went in a bit early & missed the 2nd group.
That’s why the D’s were driving around Fyshwick for the rest of the afternoon looking up all the driveways & alleys.

So your 100% sure the operation was ‘botched’?

100% sure?

He doesnt have to be ‘100% sure it was botched’, he was prevented from getting to his home and part of fyshwick was closed just before rush-hour, would you call that a planned operation? You sound pretty sure it wasnt botched so do you have anything to back that up? pptvb made a comment, gave a story and then even followed it up, you pointed out that it might not be 100% guaranteed what happened.

(worse, I just wasted 2 minutes thinking about it)

Einstein

PPTVB wasn’t prevented from doing anything, Katietonia was.

So all planned Police operations must only take place with rush hour (in Canberra rush minute) in mind?

You not only need to learn to read but also to comprehend. If your going to show your continual anti-Police colours at least be cogent about it

Well give us the real story then VG. Set it straight.

Nice try

I guess to be 100% sure I would have to be the other bad guy, however, I’m not.
“botched” is the expression a police friend used to describe the incident.

Thanks for that, I was a bit concerned, we’ve had so many break-ins and assaults in the last 3 years my initial thought was that someone got murdered. I almost wish there were more of a police presence in Fyshwick as it seems to be lawless generally.

you live in fyshwick? how does that happen? i thought it was strictly industrial.

The house existed before Fyshwick so I believe they can’t force it to be knocked down, we’ve been here for 15 years. I quite like living there, except for the high crime rate and trucks at 4am.
