ACT Policing is seeking witnesses to an attempted aggravated robbery at the IGA supermarket in Lyons last night (Thursday, June 2).
Around 7.30pm, two men entered the supermarket on Davenport Street in Lyons. One of the men armed with a pole, approached the front counter and threatened a female staff member before demanding cash.
Another staff member approached the front counter and the two offenders left the supermarket. They were last seen heading up a pathway at the rear of the shops.
The first offender was described as wearing a black hooded jumper, black tracksuit pants, black gloves and white shoes.
The second offender was described as wearing a black hooded jumper, gloves and blue tracksuit pants with a white stripe down the side.
No one was injured during the attempted robbery and no money was stolen.
Police are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the attempted robbery last night, or may have seen either of the two men matching the above descriptions in the Lyons area, to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or via the Crime Stoppers website on www.act.crimestoppers.com.au.
