Rocky the Brumby

Foxsports are reporting that Rocky Elsom has agreed to join the ACT Brumbies from next season, knocking back much higher offers from the NSW Pansies & the Queensland Reds. Fox are saying (& with some justification) that The Brumbies are looking like a powerhouse team in the comp next year..boasting players like Smith, Giteau, Elsom, Mortlock, Moore & maybe even James O’Connor.

I always hated Rocky Elsom. Why? Because he wasn’t playing for The Brumbies. Like him now.

#4, I am confused, how are our TAX DOLLARS being used here?

JTK, maybe you need to learn how the tax system works

Wow, we are set for next years premiership and beyond.

The Canberra times article today suggested he was unlikely to become a Brumby but I guess Foxsports is more up-to-date. I know which source I want to believe. That bloke is a beast.

I see. So the Chic Henry method of accounting is in use here too.

> If they can’t afford their community programmes, how can they afford ‘the No.1 rated player in the world’?

It’s a different pool of money. Player payments come directly from TV rights revenue.

A reference to the approx. $700K the ACT Government handed the Brumbies recently (which is to be used for community rugby programs by the way, not to pay Brumbies players).

If they can’t afford their community programmes, how can they afford ‘the No.1 rated player in the world’?

Does this mean Actew will be having to stump up more sweetener money a la ‘Gits’?

Isn’t this private industry?

Mitch Chapman has been in fine form. Wouldn’t our tax dollars would be better spent replacing Gerrard?

> Hope they got him for a good price….

Apparently they offered $100K less than the Reds, so I guess so. Still, he’s currently rated as the No.1 player in the world by many….worth a few dollars.

Hope they got him for a good price….

Oops. I didn’t think I posted this. I was going to add that The Brumbies themselves have not confirmed that Elsom has signed…they’re only saying “Yeah, we’ve had a chat”.
