Having not yet mastered being in two places at once it’s been with a heavy heart that I’ve decided to listen to the press conference on the radio.

Here are the major points:

11:06: Approaching the podium and starting.
11:07: Labor Caucus on Friday to decide leader, Stanhope nominating Katy Gallagher.
11:08: Human rights, removal of discrimination his highlights.
11:12: Handing the torch to Katy to fight for the ACT’s constitutional position. Thanks the people of Belconnen.
11:14: ABC drops the line.
11:16: Questions. Leaving the Assembly in the next week. Countback to fill the vacancy.
11:20: No job offer.
11:26: The dams are full and Canberra in the top ten of most liveable cities.
11:27: Trending on Twitter:

11:28: Expects Katy Gallagher’s nomination to the Leadership to be uncontested.
11:29: Press conference concluded.

If you missed it here’s a dodgy recording of the ABC’s dodgy feed, complete with me checking if 2CC had a better one during a particularly nasty outage.

The dams are full? Surely he didn’t really take credit for that. I thought rain filled dams.

Who do you think made it rain?

Well said, he’s been pissing around for ages.
Now, he’s pissing off – great!

They probably fell asleep.

The dams are full because it has been RAINING a lot. As for liveable city, yes it used to be, but a government dependant on property fees has fixed all that. Got half a million dollars for a mediocre home? OK with living cheek by jowl with 10 close neighbours? come on down.

So it’s women leaders all the way up to the queen now! That has got to be a first!

Top reporting from the CT:

‘Jon Stanhope has announced that he will resign as ACT Chief Minister during a press conference at the ACT Legislative Assembly.’

In fact he announced during a press conference at the Legislative Assembly that he would resign later this week.
