Roo protestors digging up the bodies

Territory and Municipal Services are extremely cross with animal rights activists who have been digging up the mass kangaroo graves from the recent cull:

The ACT Government has today condemned the actions of protestors who have dug up a kangaroo burial site in Kama Nature Reserve and removed carcases.

The pit has now been covered with extra soil and will not be used again.

“Our rangers today found that the pit site in Kama Nature Reserve near Coppins Crossing had been discovered by protestors who have illegally accessed the site. Protestors have dug through a metre of soil capping and removed and handled carcases, presumably with the intent of spreading misinformation about how our kangaroo cull is undertaken,” said Director, Parks and Conservation, Daniel Iglesias.

“While the ACT Government respects the rights of people to protest, this action is clearly insensitive and potentially dangerous.

Daniel Iglesias should at least be glad they’re limiting themselves to digging up the dead roos and not his family members.

Are the protestors against culling roos in general, or against shooting them. To me cruelty to them is either letting them starve to death, letting them get hit by cars, killing them another way other than shooting.

For all the anti-cull people just what is the real issue here? We’d all like to live in a world where this didn’t need to happen, but there are practical and real-world reasons it needs to be done.

I don’t like the cull, and find it hard to believe there is no other feasible method of controlling kangaroo numbers, but digging up corpses makes the protesters look macabre.

Ever heard of the director George Roomero?

Unfortunately there are only so many ways that a pest problem can be solved, it is unfortunate, but it is what has to happen.

Ever heard of the director George Roomero?

Do you have another feasible and cost effective method?

lol Roomero!

But I’ll never understand why people who want to convince the general public of a point of view go out of their way to make themselves look as bonkers as possible and therefore taint their cause in the eyes of the people they’re trying to convince.

Not all of them do. Only those who were completely and irrevocably bonkers in the first place.

Hence why they need a PR manager, to distance the moderates from the lunatics.

To all you jokers. This happens to be unrelated evidence of unwanted cruelty. TAMS comes out of this as spin doctors.

Not sure if it is the grammar or the actual message behind this, but I cannot make sense of that.

As opposed to all that ‘wanted’ cruelty?

Jeez, they really know how to kill off any sympathy to a cause.

I wonder if crappicker dug up her new favourite posterboy?

Yep, I’m thinking that we have a number one suspect for the case of the decapitated roo.

That is taking dumpster diving to a whole knew level.

Skip diving, surely.

I do like the term ‘kangaroo burial site’ though, sounds vaguely like the kangaroos conduct their own services there. Next door to the elephants’ graveyard.

LOL!

Protestors, beware of the curse of Rootankhamun!

I do believe that it is an offence to interfere with a corpse.

OMG people – get a life!!!!

We could always bury the protestors in the same spot?

Goddamn freegans

That is taking dumpster diving to a whole knew level.

The protesters are innocent; clearly the Zombaroo Apocalypse has begun.

How, even in a crazy protestor’s logic, was this a good idea?

Someone get these people a PR manager asap.

A slap and admonishment to wake up to themselves perhaps?

Well, ideally. But I’ll never understand why people who want to convince the general public of a point of view go out of their way to make themselves look as bonkers as possible and therefore taint their cause in the eyes of the people they’re trying to convince. Now people who may have been sympathetic to the protestors just see them as nutcases who dig up dead animals, and people who’ve disagreed with them all along get to smugly say “I told you so!” to everyone else.

I couldn’t give a toss about the actual issue (culls in Canberra? Please, exponentially more roos are shot out west all the time and no-one cares) but failing to consider how one’s actions negatively affect one’s cause always bemuses me.

Who are these people?!

One wonders, if given a number of other recent posts about the cull we will start seeing “decapitated” and “mutilated” kangaroo corpses suddenly appearing around the ACT with associated ‘moral panic’ posts then appearing on the Riotact? Let the astroturfing begin! Oh…… and wont somebody think of the children?
