Roofing and Painting services

dodo 2 February 2009 14

Hi all,

I’ve got a watermark on my ceiling and it needs to be fixed asap before another storm comes.

I’ve been unlucky enough to book a roof and painter who never turned up.

Any suggestions for a roof man and a painter who are reliable and turn up when they say they will?

Thank heaps.

Tradeworks do reasonable work, and if you fire off acomplaint to them, they send around their Quality Control Unit to do fix-ups.

Can’t really comment on prices relative to other tradies, as I haven’t used them in years, but they never let you off their mailing list.

I had a tradesman from Tradeworks come and do a job at my place and he turned up at the arranged day/time and did a good job. They have a range of tradespeople including Carpenters, Plumbers, Painters, Electricians and heaps or others. http://www.tradeworks.com.au/

Saw a couple of blokes on a roof in Belconnen the other day. Don’t think they are very busy at the moment.

Get up on your roof and check for cracked tiles, chipped or crumbling ridge capping, as these are generally the culprits for water in your ceiling. Alos lead flashing around skylights and chimneys is another area where water gets in easily.

As well, keep your down pipes clean and unobstructed as in a big downpour water will simply back up and flow straight into the roof cavity.

You should also check the insulation near the discoloured area as it could still be damp from the recent downpours which will ensure that they gyprock remains wet and will rot away over time.

Fix the leak and then paint.

Kane or Steve may be able to tell where you can buy a cup of coffee.

Dude – get your roof checked before repainting. Have you climbed up on the roof to roughly where the leak has appeared on your ceiling, to have a look?

Just feeling uncomfortable to ring Kane again and again when he didn’t turn up and arranging new times. I’d rather to find more reliable roof man than taking too much time off but doing nothing.

The watermark\(peeling paint?) would be a sign you’ve got a leak somewhere, but what is the issue with the roof itself?

Do it yourself. Takes no time at all.

Thanks toriness for your advice. I have tried Kane from all top roofing last week, he’s the one who was really hard to meet. I have rang and booked him many times but never turned up.
