Territory And Municipal Services are warning that they’re closing Antill and Aspinall streets in the area around their intersection.

The purpose is the installation of underground services and a new roundabout.

The closure will run from 10 June to 31 July.

Obviously, by the small number of comments, not enough Gungahlinese rat runner’s are upset about this.

Why would people from Gungahlin go that way? Perhaps you should check out the number plates – I think you’ll find most of them come from over the border…

Obviously, by the small number of comments, not enough Gungahlinese rat runner’s are upset about this. Out of interest I drove down there today to see what is being done. The whole thing is a joke, nowhere near finished, though I guess it is 5 weeks to go. I feel sorry for people living right beside the construction work. The developers should been told to pull their fingers out and at least open the road long ago.

This notice is an extension of a previous closure notice which said that the intersection would be closed from Monday 21 March 2011 to 5.00 pm Friday 10 June 2011. Obviously the work is taking much longer than expected.

Not sure why they are mentioning this now, that intersection’s been closed for some time, except for buses.

Perhaps they are blocking it off properly, as there seems to be a lot of traffic ignoring the signs and barricades.

I wouldn’t have called it “a lot of traffic” – I’ve only seen the odd vehicle, and, of course, buses, using the purpose-built deviation. In fact I’ve been amazed at how restrained the usually heavy traffic has been, given that the road isn’t physically blocked.

I wonder what “access to local businesses will be maintained during these works” means, and whether pedestrians will still be able to get around the works.

Doesn’t seem to be too much different to the ‘closure’ that has been up for a few months now… does this mean there will be an actual closure now? Local traffic and buses just go around the road blocks as they currently are.
