Roundabout

The National Capital Authority gets its fair share of criticism but it deserves credit for the work it has just completed at the Rond Terraces (end of Anzac Parade).

The new wall is a metre lower which gives a magic view of the lake and the Parliamentary Triangle.

No doubt the NIMMBY’s will say that the old concrete wall was heritage!

Well done NCA!

Cameron…

I took the time to pull up Anzac Parade to have a look, also I am passenger in a truck going past there (Thanks GnT)…

Ross…

Yeah, I’ve been an NCA critic before but this is definitely a big improvement.

Although most Canberrans get about in their own cars, some people do ride as passengers.

So unless you’re a complete and utter dick Ross, how do you know what the view is like?

That’s what I love about living in Canberra – postcard views everywhere you go, every day. Makes the commute acceptable.
You’ve gotta love this town.
But I DON’T want these postcard views subsumed by wall-to-wall lakeside cafes and tourist boomerang shops…

Must say, it is an impressive view and well worth the delays experienced. Doomsayers, say what you will, it is a fantastic job well done… Well done Manteena.

(and you would have to be a complete and utter dick to look at the view as opposed to the road)

Ross

clarification: The I couldn’t agree more was in reference to Nero’s original post, not che’s reply.

Having said that, che makes a good point. It certainly is difficult navigation the roundabout whilst admiring the view.

I couldn’t agree more. When they first started it off and blocked out the left citybound lane, I was an angry road user – wondering what the hell they could be doing there that would warrant killing a lane on such a busy road.

Well – the result is worth it.

just to be cycnical, wait for all the extra car crashes as people are looking at the lake instead of the road
but I’ll enjoy the view anyways
