Meet our lovable ‘Pets of the Week’ looking for forever homes at the RSPCA ACT Shelter!

This week, say hello to the big, strong, boy Jerry and senior citizen Mia, who are waiting to find their perfect match.

Dog of the Week – Jerry

Big, handsome Jerry is full of action and needs to find a perfect home with plenty of room for him to play in.

This smiley boy found himself at the Shelter after his family moved and could no longer give him the exercise and enrichment that this German Shepherd mix would need.

Jerry wants to find a new home where he can relax and chill out, but also get lots of walking and attention to keep his brain active and his body healthy. This energetic dog loves his daily walks with volunteers and playing fetch out in the yard with tennis balls.

Jerry loves the outdoors and needs a family that will give him the opportunity to continue this in the future.

Jerry hasn’t had much experience in the past with children and can occasionally be fussy about other dogs. Jerry has plenty of energy to share, and could be open to moving in with an older friendly female companion, but also wouldn’t mind being the only dog in your life.

We recommend Jerry for a family with children 12 years and older. Please remember that all interactions between children and dogs/pups should be monitored.

Mia is looking for the perfect retirement family that can help her live out her twilight years.

Cat of the Week – Mia

Playful Mia found herself at the Shelter after her previous owners’ circumstances changed, and is now looking for a new family to call her own.

Mia is one of our senior citizens here at the Shelter and is trying to find the perfect loving retirement home where she can live out her golden years.

Affectionate and smoochy with love to give, Mia also doesn’t mind spending time by herself when she feels like it.

Mia loves to enjoy loving pats, naps in the sunshine and wet food. She enjoys cuddling up with our volunteers and once she starts purring, won’t stop.

Previously Mia was the only pet in her home and she would like to keep it this way in the future. Mia is used to indoor/outdoor time, so her ideal home must have secure and safe access to the outdoors such as a cat run, enclosed garden or supervised outdoor time.

Mia prefers to toilet outside so this will be a necessity.

Due to Mia’s age, she would prefer a household with older adults, as she finds she gets along better with people her age.
