Meet our lovable Pets of the Week looking for forever homes at the RSPCA ACT Shelter!

Sabi and Bruce are this week’s friendly Pets of the Week! These gorgeous animals are waiting to find their perfect match. Think that could be you? Read more about them below.

Dog of the week – Sabi

No midlife crisis here – Sabi has plenty of energy and will make a willing and terrific exercise and walking companion.

In Nigeria, Sabi means ‘to know’ or ‘to understand’. This is very apt. Having kelpie heritage, our Sabi is keen of mind and responds well to training. He has the basics down pat and to keep him entertained, his training and mental stimulation should continue.

Sabi loves, loves, loves, his toys … to the point where he is somewhat unwilling to share. He does need to learn to be less possessive of his favourites – some object exchange training will help, as will his love of a food reward.

Full of beans and very social, Sabi will make a loving and loyal companion.

Rabbit of the week – Bruce

Once upon a time at the RSPCA there were four little rabbits, and their names were Flopsy, Mopsy, Cottontail, and um, Bruce? (Apologies to Ms Potter.) Ms Potter’s stories were written in the late 19th, early 20th centuries. Although Bruce isn’t that old, he is our resident rabbit retiree.

Bruce is a sweet, calm, older bunny, who like a lot of older gentlemen, has lost his hearing. Being deaf hasn’t gotten in his way though, and he enjoys all the best that retirement offers: gardening (well eating what comes from it), napping, gentle play, napping, pats and cuddles, and did we mention napping? Fun fact: rabbits can sleep with their eyes open!

Bruce will happily potter around the house with you while he watches you do your chores and would make a great companion in a calm and stable household. What are you waiting for … hop down to the shelter to meet him.

Visit the RSPCA at 12 Kirkpatrick St, Weston, and add a new companion to your life – you won’t regret it!
