The NCA are warning that getting on and off Kings Avenue Bridge is about to get trickier again:
From Saturday 12 June 2010, there will be a major change to traffic conditions at the Kings Avenue Overpass construction site (Russell roundabout).
There will be significant alteration to traffic movements along the Morshead Drive (Airport) side, with changes to mirror the existing extended U-turn arrangement on the Parkes Way (city) side.
The extension will include two U-turn lanes installed on Morshead Drive around 100 meters from Kings Avenue Bridge, controlled by a set of temporary traffic lights. Both sides of the extended roundabout will have two dedicated through lanes.
A 40km/ph speed limit will be in place 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. There will also be advisory signage, variable message boards and vehicle speed indicators.
Motorists are warned to expect traffic delays, especially during peak hours, when passing through the altered Russell roundabout. Drivers are strongly encouraged to plan alternate routes, take public transport and allow additional time when travelling to the Canberra Airport.
Well, you were warned.
