Sacked Canberra Raiders centre Curtis Scott will fight an assault charge after he was accused of bashing a man at Kokomo’s earlier this year.

Previously, ACT Policing alleged a 31-year-old-man was assaulted at a city nightclub on 30 May 2021.

This was a day after the Raiders’ 44-16 loss against the Roosters at Central Coast Stadium.

Police received a complaint about the incident in June and later charged 23-year-old Scott with assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

His case was briefly heard in the ACT Magistrates Court on Monday (30 August), where he did not appear in person.

Adrian McKenna, appearing as an agent for Scott’s legal team Macedone Legal, said Scott was pleading not guilty to his charge.

Magistrate Beth Campbell adjourned the case for a pre-hearing mention to 8 November.

The Canberra Raiders Board of Directors terminated Scott’s contract earlier in August, saying his prior behaviour and assault charge had “brought the club into disrepute”.
