Saffron - A review

Maelinar’s write up of Legends in Manuka has inspired me to submit a quick story about my own positive dining experience in the weekend. I went for a three course meal with my girl (Sarius Minimus) at Saffron, next to the Cinema, also in Manuka.

Saffron serves a variety of Mediterranean food at fair prices for the quality of food ($10-15 entree, $20-30 main). We were a little unadventurous and had some mixed dips, the mixed entrée, and I had the Tawok. Serving sizes were generous, and the food was well prepared and creatively presented. The staff were friendly and obliging, plus the food came out quick, although we did head in early (6:30). Jamius Maximus’ massive Roman-sized hunger was well satisfied.

A great night out – coming in at just under $100 for three courses and (non-alcoholic) drinks. Well worth it. But I might be preaching to the converted, as I am told this place has been around for a while and is quite popular.

Haha! No, in truth there is only the one maxi- in this relationship. The boombattiness was merely a temporary illusion caused by full bellies. Saria is indeed deserving of her title, “Minima”

Except, Jim, if you left the restaurant “like a couple of big (satisfied) fatty boombatties”, she is probably now a “Maxima”!
-I hesitate to say, “Porca”.

Thanks guys. Yes, I find acknowledgement of the correct gender of your girlfriend to be one of the more important parts of a successful relationship. Sarah is much happier with her new name, Saria Minima, as it is both grammatically correct and nicer sounding.

To clarify – Terubo is correcting your latin there. “-ius” is a masculine suffix. Now, your girlfriend might very well be a match for any bloke, but she remains a girl. Latin’s not one of those PC languages – it has different terms for blokes and sheilas.

It’s the gender, Big Jim, the gender! Try something like Saria Minima, she might be pleased with your recognition of her gender…
-Unless she IS a guy, in which case my apologies. You never can tell, these days.

Sarius… is my poor attempt at a Roman equivalent for Sarah. Perhaps Sarahius might have been better.

And yes – there was plenty for all. Perhaps too much. We both rolled out of that place like a couple of big (satisfied) fatty boombatties.

I don’t know who the manager was, but everyone who came to our table was very pleasant.

Marvin the manager is a good guy.

4 thumbs up about this restaurant.

A girl with a bloke’s name, Big Jim?
Hope you left some for her to eat.
