SBS Digital problems?

I have been spurred to emerge from my long and enjoyable lurkdom on this site by an extremely dire situation — I have suddenly lost reception of all SBS digital channels.

My analogue reception is still fine, as is my reception of every other digital channel, but my beloved SBS1 and SBS2 are no more. I’m in Palmerston, where I have up to now had very good reception, even using a rabbit-ear aerial, so I’m a bit perplexed.

Has anyone else experienced something similar recently?

Yes, including all three being out of action for a couple of days about three weeks ago. All seems ok now.

Thanks all, I did suspect that the absence of laments from the ten other SBS watchers in town indicated that the problem was at my end, and so it was. Skip, your recommendation to turn the antenna cable connection worked — so simple, but I’d probably never have worked it out on my own. Many thanks!

And Waiting for Godot, they seem to be cutting back on the soccer and the sex, for better or worse…hopefully not so much that they lose sight of their true identity, though!

Doesn’t SBS stand for Sex Between Soccer?

Was OK in Kaleen last night and it’s all OK this morning.

I agree, though – couldn’t live without SBS. 🙂

90% of the time this ends up being a problem with your TV or STB. If you do a factory reset on whichever you’re using and re-scan for channels there’s a pretty good chance it’ll all come back.

In Palmerston you’re getting your digital signal from Black Mountain, so if it’s broken it would be broken for the majority of Canberra and odds are someone would have noticed…even if we are talking about SBS ;).

Try turning the antenna cable connection to the TV slightly. If there are multiple connections such as cabling in and out of VCR, PVR, STB etc, try doing th same to each connection. The signal should come back.
