Schadenfreude Thursday - Bogged up to the axle

I came across this scene at Yarralumla Bay this morning. The truck is bogged even deeper on the other side and they’re trying to use the bobcat to lift it out via a chain.

It didn’t work.

So no matter how bad your day’s been at least you weren’t out in the rain trying to shift a bogged truck.

Probably urban myth bulldust but I heard an old tale of a landy pulling a truck and dog out of a sticky situation. Photo was taken and sent to Toyota along with the suggestion of marketing use.

Story goes they got a letter back saying thanks for the photo and your warranty is now void.

What is that truck? Looks like a little crane on the back, but it’s all a bit bizarre.

Many years ago, when we had bread deliveries (yep, that long ago) the Tip Top van got bogged in the driveway. Luckily, we had (and still have) a tractor, so he wasn’t bogged for long.

And just a few years back, up here it was raining, and the AAA water truck arrived to put water in teh neighbours tank. Strange noises came up the hill of a truck in distress… and half an hour later the neighbour came zoomign up the hill, and dragged the water truck out of distress… with his Hilux. That would have been an ad to sell lots of Toyotas, but no one would have believed it. I saw it, and it’s true. (the water truck was still full!).

If you can still see the door handles, its not a proper bog.

I came here to say close to that. Got myself bogged a few weeks ago, NRMA tow company said they wouldnt help. All it needed was a tough landcruiser and a snatch strap. Maybe they shouldve gotten 2 bobcats, picked up the front n the back and carried it out?

If you can still see the door handles, its not a proper bog.

When will truck drivers learn that grass after (or during) rain is a no no.
I bet if you look tomorrow morning there is a dirty big hole ready for someone to trip and fall.

and don’t the guys watching you take the photo look highly impressed? not happy campers at all.

That would be Yer-Lumbar Pain! (Yarralumla Bay)

(…okay I feel very silly and embarrassed now.)
