Scrivener Dam opens

Pommy Bastard got down to Lake Burley Griffin’s Scrivener Dam at 5pm this afternoon to get a load of this.

(And that kids is why you don’t skateboard down there on cloudy days)

UPDATE: Not to be outdone Androo got down for some night work in two parts.

PB – those are some great pics. If only you would stick to posting pics on this forum rather than letting your fingers touch the keyboard, I suspect I would admire you so much that I would think of you as a brother.

i remember before the wooden bike bridge was built anyway. There were often horses crossing just below where the bike path bends up to the road. And down behind where the bridge is now.

But I remember Mrs LLewllen’s riding school there too….

well maybe it was most of them. whatever – the water was bloody high. I remember before the wooden bike bridge was built anyway. There were often horses crossing just below where the bike path bends up to the road. And down behind where the bridge is now.

according to NCA, all five gates have only been open once – in 1976.

Still, on Saturday night with only one gate open only slightly there was a heck of a lot of water… everything open would be simply awe inspiring!

I remember when the wooden bridge approx 500m bridge below the dam got washed away about 15 years ago when they opened all the sluice gates and the bike path below Forest Park and the cross country course was under water.

I can’t see the Dam in Androo’s pics, is it somewhere behind the copyright notice?

Lovely shots Androo.

It has been a while since I saw anything like that happening on the river…
