Chief Minister Gallagher has let us know works have commenced to upgrade the much maligned Scullin shops:
“The $1.12 million upgrade of Scullin shops will revitalise the area, providing locals and traders with a safer, more accessible and more attractive local centre,” the Chief Minister said.
“Community feedback in recent years has demonstrated that locals place great value and pride in the amenity of their local shops, and I know that Scullin residents have been keen to see this upgrade commence. The contractor, Pyramid, has now commenced work and is expected to complete the upgrade by June this year.
Features of the upgrade include:
— new lighting to enhance security;
— new street furniture including seats, bins and a community noticeboard;
— landscaping works;
— upgrades to paving and lighting to improve pedestrian access;
— improved stormwater drainage;
— new toilet block; and
— public artwork.
We look forward to seeing the artwork.
