Head on down to Rennie St, Downer from 6pm tonight for the first ever Sculpture in the Street exhibition.
Residents have made their front yards available for 32 artists to populate with installations for the weekend long event.
Organiser and Rennie St local, Stephen Harrison’s sculpture of a sea mine pays tribute to not only his naval clearance diver grandfather, but also the street’s namesake: scientist Edward Henry Rennie, who in the 1920s was South Australia’s government analyst and inspector of explosive who went on to form the School of Mines and Industries.
Amongst the static displays there’s also an interactive installation from Rat Patrol Oz where you’re invited to ride a bad arse chopper that powers a cinema. A few more details here: http://portraitofanation.com.au/downer/rennie-street
