Secret Telstra facility

By nanzan - 28 November 2009 40

The news web sites are bringing us news about a new secret Telstra Security Operations Centre, somewhere in Canberra, certified by ASIO, and employing 40 people, with the capacity to increase that to 100.

So, any ideas where this new hi-tech top secret establishment is?

Is it related to the other high-security Telstra establishment in Kent Street, Deakin?

Photos anybody?

What’s Your opinion?

Of course, if everything we say is complete BS, then your statement is meaningless, yes?

I believe that the tunnel in the pic is the one that went from Russell G to Russell H, which would put it a few hundred meters to the right and up a bit. Almost under the Bugs Bunny statue.

Exactly! Why do you think they wanted to put the ASIO building there?

Well, I was more implying that if you went and peered over the fence you ought to be able to see the supposed tunnel.

p1: I don’t know how accurate that map is supposed to be, but the marked route of the “Russell tunnel” goes through the current big hole in the ground where the ASIO building site is.

and what are the traffic implications #12 ?. No doubt you’ll be out there counting people committing petty infringements. perhaps you could perform volunteer picket duty on the new asio building under construction in your spare time. and if you know where to sign up for Al – Q maybe you should pass that on the national security hotline. very useful information that.

Oh for crying out loud. Some of you may as well just sign up for Al-Qaeda membership! Do you ever stop to think for just a moment about the damage you may be doing to national security by discussing this stuff publicly? Where do you idiots get off handing out indformation about classified facillities?

And where do the owners of the Riot Act get off by allowing this crap to happen?

Because firstly, i bet most of us have clearances and know what can and cannot be discussed. And secondly, it is all open source information if you know where to look.

Gotta chill a bit man! Just because you dont know about these things does not make them secret.

P.s. I dont think that anyone gets off on this stuff as the SECMAN and the PSM make lousy masturbation material.

This being Canberra, I’m sure every singe one of us knows someone who works in each of these very secret locations.

Hilarious. The requirements for government IT security are intentionally wrapped up in a document accessible publicly from the web.

Do you ever stop to think that ‘security through obscurity’ is dumb?

I havent seen anyone actually identify any sites, other than saying ‘theres a few new buildings here, and there’. Maybe you didnt actually click the link in the OP, which was simply google search results. If something is on google search results from the news media, you can hardly accuse RiotACTers of security breaches by discussing what is in the news (and on google) already.
