If you’re looking for a child-friendly established suburb with lots of playgrounds and green space, then the large Tuggeranong suburb of Gordon could be for you.

There are a range of housing options to suit different budgets, from homes with sprawling backyards to townhouses and courtyard homes. And the best that nature has to offer is right on your doorstep, with the Murrumbidgee River corridor running alongside the suburb.

Thinking about visiting or moving to Gordon? Here’s what you need to know.

Background and history

Gordon is named after Australian poet Adam Lindsay Gordon. It is adjacent to Bonython, Conder and Banks. Point Hut pond and park are part of the suburb.

Gordon has a small shopping centre with a small supermarket, medical practice and several small shops.

Places of interest and things to do

  • Explore the bush on your doorstep. Surrounded by picturesque mountains, Gordon has the best of the bush close by. It’s an easy walk to the Murrumbidgee River from many parts of the suburb, and there are some lovely bushwalks in the area. Head up to the closest hill – there are a few – and take in the views.

Covenant Christian School and Gordon Primary are in the suburb, and St Clare of Assisi and Lanyon High School are in the neighbouring suburb of Conder.
