I am seeking to contact former students of Marist Brothers Primary School Queanbeyan. Particularly those who had knowledge of or contact with Brother Francis (Franco).

I can be contacted on moulis05 at hotmail.com. Any correspondence will be held in the strictest confidence.

I am with Benji on this one… I have nothing but fond memories of MB in Qbn. Except of course the cane – Br francis was quite good at delivering a resounding blow on a cold winter’s morning, but not as bad as the compass across the legs from Mrs Spur!

Moulis, regrets if your experience was as devastating as you intimate and I wish you all the best in your quest for justice.

David Harradine (monkey_mann@optusnet.com.au)

I am the person who ranted at sqlspace. I attended Marist, Queanbeyan from 1973 to 1977. Apart form the canings, there were some good memories. The teachers were quite pleasent- Roberts, Ross, and Bernard, and we had fun. As I said in my rants at sqlspace, I made the terrible joke about ‘Franco’ molesting me to a rather incompetent ex-policeman whom I had known from Marist. I then stated to a Bus Driver who was also from Marist that I was molested, which led me to think that the copper had put the false info on the Police computer- leading to the words coming out under the Driver’s control- Action Bus drivers are under tight legal control. I apologise to the Marist Brothers for putting on an act of being a person molested by a Brother, but it was rather obvious to any intellegent person watching that I was joking around. I know now not to joke about such things. ‘Franco’ had a short wick, but he wasn’t such a bad bloke. He took us on trips to various places, and yes, he was a sort of father to me on a trip to the Snowy region because my own father was dead. Now, I’m sure some might hold it against ‘Franco’ for the canings, but I think it was just a part of the times we were in. And I think he did have some issues that he needed addressing. Canings are considered beastial these days and have rightly been banished. So, Mr. Moulis (and I think it’s you whom I have known since CCAE days, John- and no I don’t hold it against you for grabbing my arse- I’m not a poof- sorry, Duckie!!!- other men have done it because I’m so pretty!!!), if you have any further grievence, then please state it publicly. I’d love for this to just be gone out of the way. Best wishes to you and the Brothers.

It is interesting to note the reaction of certain institutions when trying to obtain information on my school records for the period that I attended Marist Brothers in Queanbeyan.

I get the feeling from some of the phone reactions I have had with people concerning why I am enquiring into my Marist records that they are thinking…oh no…heres another school, and another cess pool of hidden shame that is about to be uncovered.

While I don’t agree with BerraBoy’s “The name ‘Marist’ should be enough for most to work out the answer to skids question.” (The Order can, does, and will do other things, you know), this is exactly how groups like VOTF in the US got their start.

I wasn’t saying the Order doesn’t do other things skid (in fact, I sincerely look forward to the time when they are in the news for all the right reasons), it’s just that at the moment when Threads pop up with the word ‘Marist’ in the title, the natural assumption is that it’s about abuse. Comments I received from several people yesterday seem to bare this out. As sad as thay may be.

moulis – best of luck (seriously, no jokes, no snibes).

Peace out.

Of course, Jb could just delete comments, put the thread into lockdown and let it stand as a classified.
(Didn’t RA used to do that?)

There’s a difference between a thread discussing actual legal proceedings, matters of public record, items in the media; and a thread that alleges wrongdoing by, you know, dropping the “M” word.

“I went to Marist”
“Oh, Marist. You know what -thats- about”

I fully support all the legal proceedings that have happened to put these criminals behind bars. The other thread was obviously a very useful resource in that cause. But I don’t think the tone of this one is appropriate – if moulis is looking for people to come forward and help with a case, then just say so.

It’s the vibe of the thing.

Captain whorebag,
I dont need anyone to come forward for anything, What is hard about the original post?you dont think the tone is appropriate? I am looking for people to come forward, not to help with my case, to help with Their case and I thought I WAS saying so, and being fairly discreet about it. Its fools like yourself with nothing better to do than to trawl thru peoples misfurtune and try to offer there advice that makes threads go to the Sh*T

While I don’t agree with BerraBoy’s “The name ‘Marist’ should be enough for most to work out the answer to skids question.” (The Order can, does, and will do other things, you know), this is exactly how groups like VOTF in the US got their start.

Fair enough Moulis.

Seeing as the first comment was “A Class reunion. How sweet”, i don’t think you provided enough information initially. Your follow up does.

So don’t bite.

In fact there’s no need for anyone to comment on a story like this. Contact if so inclined, otherwise pass over.

Chewy.
I have started this thread on the advice of my legal representation. Its not a witch hunt, its not fishing. The people who have contacted me via email certainly dont think its fishing either. The thread is designed to help people like myself, contact other victims. It is a confidential matter and the context of my contact should not have to posted here just to satisfy your curiosity.

What is so hard about the post? Do you require more info? what would you like to know?

Berraboy,
I fully support the other threads that have occured on this issue and aggre with CWB.

This thread however seems a little more like fishing when no other information is provided.

Great to know the victims have your support CWB, seriously. Not surprisingly many victims aren’t so keen to put their experiences into the public domain, so quite often requests for further info, such as the one in the OT, may seem odd to those that don’t have any background of this issue. Posts such as that made in the OT are tentative first steps. Victims of sexual abuse should always be encouraged to come forward. What happened was, is and never will be their fault and they need to feel they have community support if they come forward.

Rest assured that this Thread is about the sexual and physical abuse of boys by a Marist Brother, so I hope that now gives the right tone.

Yes its obvious what this is about, and this is so the wrong way to go about this.

Forums like this should keep the witch hunts to the politicians it is much more palatable.

You obviously have no history of Marist threads on RiotACT, SkipDaRoo. Threads such as this have been instrumental in the past in a) getting victims of Marist in touch with each other and b) the formation of a group that supports, and lobby’s for, the victims. Good on RiotACT, JB, Jazz, and all the mod’s for this great forum, I say.

In short, this is exactly the right way to go about getting relevant information and kudo’s to moulis for initiating this thread (which, by the way, has already been read by the media and one or two supportive MLA’s) I know that for a fact. Again, moulis has done the right thing in posting this here.

Says who?

Yes its obvious what this is about, and this is so the wrong way to go about this.

Forums like this should keep the witch hunts to the politicians it is much more palatable.

Can I please ask Rioters to be a tad respectful in this thread of both the topic and its poster please. The request for information is not based on class reunions etc, or other pleasantries. The name ‘Marist’ should be enough for most to work out the answer to skids question.

Schoolfriendsreunited.com.au?

The school that is now St Gregory’s?
Was a Marist school well before my years, but there seems to be a rather broken individual that Google has spotted over on SQLSpace.
http://www.sqlspace.com/viewtopic.php?f=20&t=1059&st=0&sk=t&sd=a&start=240

Almost the entire thread reads like textbook mental illness, mixed with some bizarre logorrhoea, and fellow forum posters baited him for a little under two years.
Page 25 has his story of Brother Franco (do a Find Text on “pseudo-father” and you’re there), his contact information is listed on page 2 and 34.
FIIK if he’s still alive.

*waits to see where this thread goes*

Ah! A class reunion. How sweet.
