Seeking 'fresh' lemonade (can be bottled)

I’ve been looking for ‘fresh’ or ‘homestyle’ lemonade for some time now, ever since Woolies and Coles stopped carrying the Golden Circle variety.

A call to the company indicates its only being sold in QLD for some reason.

Is there anywhere in Canberra where I can get lemon tasting, uncarbonated lemonade? Preferably bottled and in more than 350ml quantities.

Thanks all for the comments…

Have had it on my list for a while to make the stuff, but don’t have the staying power to do that regularly…and my desire to drink it daily fuels the purchases. Keeping three months is interesting though. Will maybe give it a go in the new year. 🙂

Will def check out the markets, Bumpkin, thanks!

I make a lemon cordial for my kids to drink, and it beats anything you can get in mass produced form.

I got this recipe ten years ago, and haven’t gotten sick of it yet. Dead simple; I multiply these quantities by six and make it once every six weeks or so to keep the mini trevars watered. It will last about three months in the fridge, or about six hours if you leave it out! Cheaper and better than anything you can buy!

1 lemon
2 cups sugar
3t tartaric acid
2 cups boiling water

Peel lemon into basin.
Cut off white pith and discard.
Slice lemon thinly and add to peel in basin. Add hot water, sugar and tartaric acid. Stir until dissolved, cover and refrigerate overnight, then strain and bottle.
Store in refrigerator to prevent souring. Dilute using one part syrup to eight parts water.

Hi Kevin,
I came across uncarbonated fresh lemonade, sold in 4litre bottles, at Fyshwick markets,I think its Go Troppo fruit and vege store. I also noticed that some IGA stores stock it, but I found it was very over priced from there, they sell it at Lyneham IGA 2litre bottles only, and Narrabundah IGA also stock it, in 2litre varieties.

The best value I found was at the Fyshwick markets, and at a good price as well.
This lemonade I found really tasty and a good price. Hope this helps you, in your search.

Good luck….

Have you tried making it yourself? Its very easy, this is how I make it:

Squeeze the juice out of two large lemons and strain.
Disolve eight tablespoons of raw sugar in hot water.
Mix it all together in a 1.5 litre jug.
Top with cold water and ice.

I might be stating the obvious, but perhaps you could make some yourself?
After all, lemonade is only 3 ingredients, and one of them is water.

The comments here point out that you want to avoid the pith (The white bit) but a but of the rind adds real ‘zing’.

I would guess the high sugar content + hi acidic content would keep it fresh for quite some time in the fridge.
Some vodka would help too 😉
